Glad to get back into the 1M

Had my car serviced yesterday at the local BMW dealer in Monterey. Just a oil change since i had hit the 12 month mark since my 1200 mile service. They set me up with a brand new 2013 3 series car with 50 miles on it. Most would be thrilled with the opportunity to drive one of these brand new cars for the day. Not 1M owners. I couldn't wait to turn those keys over for my own. Just total confirmation of what a badass car we have.

I don't think my dealer would give me a loaner for an oil change, so I still say lucky you!

Depends. If he tries to buy back your 1M or if he wants to have some 1M fun while you're away with the 3er, you might get a loaner for even a light bulb change.

They don't get the chance too often to behold and experience the 1M. Just check how excited the tech guys at the dealership are every time you're leaving them the 1M keys. It was, is and will remain a special car, also for them.

So does the 1M require an oil change at 1 year old as mine only has 7,000 miles and is now 14 months old. On board computer says oil change not due until December this year? It has the 5 year service package so do I ask the dealer for an oil service now?

I have to agree Artemis as every time my car goes into the local dealer literally every technician, valeter and parts people swarm around it in the workshop

I was in similar situation as my car had 8500 miles but computer wasn't calling for oil change yet. I called the BMW dealer and they told me the service agreement will change oil every 12 months if that comes before the mileage.

I always politely ask that they don't test drive the car after service.

+1 here. I got mine out of the shop today and after 3 days in a 13 128i, i was ready fir the M back. Although it was a nice car it doesn't compare.

You are entitled to a low mile oil service after you cross the 12 month mark , the dealer will NOT reset the indicator . You will still get the oil service as stated your vehicle .

Exactly.

This is my 10th BMW and not even the fastest in a straight line, not even the most luxurious, not even the most expensive one. But by far the greatest. By far. Sometimes my dealer gives me a 114i(horrible car not worth the badge imo) , 320d ede(good car!) 535d, 550i etc. But I'm, just like you, happy to be back in that little bast4rd bombshell semi rallycar we have.

Cheers
Robin

mine does... every single time. I usually have to schedule 4-7 days in advance so that a loaner is available, but it is free.

I got an F30 3 series last time I went in as well.... i was actually hoping for an X1.
I did enjoy the time I had with the F30 because I think auto stop/start is a great feature.

What did you think about the steering feel on your loaner? I had one for around 6K miles and couldn't stand it.

way too light on the steering effort but it's not HORRIBLE for what is a run of the mill sedan for Joe/Jane Owner. I am sure that the F80 M version of steering will be weighted better....

I Drove a coworker's 2013 Toyota Corolla last week and it has probably 1/5 the effort of the BMW.... so believe me.. BMWs could be FAR worse. The corolla drove just fine.. but seriously one can do lock to lock turns using a ** feather.** ... a pinky finger will have you doing donuts...

We have a Toyota Highlander, and previous to that, a Venza. Steering effort is very light on both.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they have to drive the car after oil service to make sure they topped it off? Something like 12 miles as well before the oil indicator gauge activates.

Maybe after a full oil change? Because I had to add 1 liter oil before and just after topping it off, I was able to see from the oil indicator that it is at max again, without any driving.
