Good to know that M3 doesn't consume more fuel than 1ser. I was scarry off getting M3 because it requires a lot stops at fuel stations. Now I feel more confident so perhaps I know my next car.

I like to play "Prius driver" with my 135's MPG indicator. I have around 800 miles on the car so far (after 3 weeks) and managed to get 27.3 MPG driving on the 101 between Chandler to North Phoenix. Average so far is about 23 MPG with a roughly 50/50 mix of freeway and city driving.

I average about 16mpg with an average speed of 20mph, 75% city, rest highway. When the engine is warm I drive it hard =)

But I have tested it when I knew I was going on long trips and I averaged 27mpg driving very conservatively on the highway.

All of you guys are getting much better than me! I get about 19.1~5 on a weekly basis. Granted, work is city street driving, and most (if not all) of my local hang out spots are within city street driving too.

On the couple of occasions I did only highway driving between fill-ups I averaged 23~25.7ish (couldn't get the estimated 27).

M3_Dust has a 2006 M3. The current model is EPA rated at 14/20 mpg vs. the 135i at 17/25 mpg.

Somehow, I doubt that you'll get very good gas mileage from the V8 M3 - but it does have a 20 gal. tank.

the 06 M3 (E46) had a $1000 gas-guzzler tax also, which was total B.S.

I think it was rated at 16/24, I drove it the same way I drive the 135i and always got 20-21 or better.
