Moving to Dinan Stage 3 and all goodies.

I'll start by saying this isn't a post intended to instigate a discussion or comparison across various brands. Merely to promote sharing of information in a forum and resource that I've found extremely helpful throughout the five years of owning my car.

Thank you Thompson BMW and the performance dept. for pulling all this together for me. http://www.thompsonbmw.com/

So I decided to do some performance upgrades including: Dinan Stage 3 SW upgrade, Dinan intercooler, Dinan Oil cooler and Berk Technology race exhaust. I'm replacing my BMW PE which I think sounds great just not aggressive enough for me. This car is a warm weather weekend driver and I could use the louder exhaust.

Attached are some pics from the Install.

I run the complete Dinan S3 setup plus Dinan exhaust on my '08 E88 and love it. I hope you enjoy yours as much as i do mine. Sound and performance are great.

So...I picked my car up yesterday and only got to drive it for about 10 miles. Initial impressions :

I haven't gotten on it, so I didn't notice a difference from Dinan Stage 2 to 3. I did however notice that my oil temp gauge is running 10-15 degrees cooler.

Now for the exhaust. I was coming from a full BMW PE w non res mid pipes. Basically straight pipe after DP to the exhaust. I opted to remove the PE axle back section and go for the Berk Tech race exhaust...holy hell! What a difference! None of the videos on you tube really do it justice.

At start up it is just so much deeper sounding, then when you Rev it, it burbles all over the place. Even driving it normal is nuts. I'm hoping for some good weather this weekend to really get on it. Hopefully I notice s difference w Dinan Stage 3, but really looking to spend some time in the car and get used to the exhaust.

Very nice. Love the quality of Dinan. Will most likely choose them when it comes time to upgrade power mods.

No need for your Focal speaker setup anymore.

Do you have a way to log? Maybe with the torque app or dash command? Would be nice to see boost, timing, etc of their stage three tune.

Oil cooler looks nice, does it poke into the wheel well/ fender liner?

Glad everything turned out great. The quality looks top notch.

I'm going to do the same, Dinan Stage 3, on this Monday coming.
But I go with Wagner Tuning Evo 1 competition FMIC and ER sport oil cooler.
I'm currently running PPK2+PE as a 135is.

I'm glad that you enjoy with Stage 3. Hopefully, my car will turn out great too.

LOL...so since i picked it up, I find that I'm listening to the sound of the exuast ,it's freaking loud especially at cold start. I still love the stereo though...can't wait till top down weather...people are gonna hate me. Loud exhaust and tunes.

I had actually posted in the for sale section and had a few offers before it even came off. It just shipped out today.

Post your results when you get a chance to dyno. I'm Dinan stage 2 with Dinan intercooler, and always considered going to full stage 3. I manage to get 351hp at the wheels and 387tq at the wheels. 96 oct.

Will do. I'm really interested in seeing what I'm putting down. I'm hopeful that in addition to the SW the full straight pipe (from the DP)exhaust w out any resonators or restrictions is adding some HP & TQE.

I also have straight pipe from the DP back (well excluding the sport muffler on the berk street), and I think that played a role in achieving my torque number, which when keeping perspective, is no slouch! Good look and very interested to see what you put down. The Dinan tune benefits from moving to 93 octance in my experience so I'd recommend adding 4 gal of 100 oct race gas if you have access to it before dyno day.

Frank, did the tech need to cut the actual painted plastic on the front bumper, or just the fender liner? Your car is black so hard to tell where the bumper ends and the liner begins lol.

Just the liner...nothing that was painted was touched.

For anyone who's interested, here is a clip of the Berks Tech. Race exhaust. All I have to say is holy crap is this thing loud. Wish there was a way to add a button like the M guys have it quiet down.

Leaving the house in the AM before the Wifey & kids , neighbors are awake w this exhaust is not going to be quiet in anyway.
