Stock Boost setting PSI
I’ve read that the stock PSI on the N54b30a is 8.8psi.
Can anyone confirm that with a stock tune measuring with either digital or mechanical boost gauge? I’m curious because the only mods on my car are Berk midpipes and K&N filter in stock airbox... and after I put a mechanical boost gauge in.. I peak 12psi stock. My theory is either it’s over boosted from the factory originally or I have a flash tune. And after installing the JB+ at the Middle setting.. I’m reading 15-17psi. Pulls really nice. Or maybe one of the previous owner had the dealer performance tune installed at some point.. I have no idea. INPA says I have MSD80.. I think the bmw performance tune changes the DME if I remember reading it right. |

These cars control boost with load and not psi. So when the air is colder and more dense it uses less boost to get the job done. Conversely, it will use more boost when the air is hotter to prevent the car feeling slow on hot days.
So the stock boost will be around 9ish psi but will change depending on conditions.

Yup. 9psi +/- air density and IAT.
Get the MHD logging module and see what your DME thinks it's doing.
