JB4 N55 DCT sport button

Ok, so I know there is a million and one threads about the JB4. But I couldn't seem to find the answer to what I was looking for.

Does the sport button become useless once the JB4 is installed? Would it only function when you are running the stock map?

What does it do normally? I can't notice a difference but I always have it in manual mode.
Also I don't think piggybacks are good for the DCT long term as the transmission isn't getting proper torque values. I know mine feels a lot crisper without the JB4 installed.

Normally it sharpens throttle response and quickens shift times. I always have it in manual mode as well, you will notice regardless of what mode your in.

And don't tell me that... I just ordered a JB4 Are you telling me I'm going to want to return this thing? It's supposed to get here tomorrow. Now I'm going to be non stop worrying about my trans.

I'm no expert and may be wrong, maybe ask Terry what he thinks. It probably won't be an issue until you start making big power anyway.
But in my experience it did slur the shifts a little compared to stock. Also made 30% more power than stock.

I have no problems with my JB4/DCT. I have bms intake, charge pipe and downpipe, run 30/70 e85/93 and the worst issue I've experienced was slight slippage under heavy load in 4th around 50mph. Other than that it performs flawlessly. The sport button also makes quite a difference on how quick it shifts.. I don't get the sharper throttle since my DTC is always activated..

Sport button still has the same effect once JB4 is installed: it sharpens the throttle response and quickens the gear shifts.

Honestly I don't really like my car with the JB4 it certainly feels faster but there is a huge lag and some hesitation issues that I notice when I am using one of the maps. I drove last week in map 0 and I'm convinced the JB4 is the culprit. The gauge hijack is awesome but I'm considering selling the jb4. I'm also in LA and DCT.

There is still a very noticeable difference with the sport button engaged with JB4. I have stage 2 and I will admit that there is some noticeable lag with the sport button off. Push the button and it all changes. I love how car behaves with the JB4. Goes from mild mannered to wild ride with push of a button. I will say that I have had it on map 5 the entire time I have had it installed.

The sport button maintains all its functions.

The sport button gives the car an intoxicating exhaust note with my iCarbon DP and DCT. I can't help but accelerate whenever there is some open road so I can pull a few shifts with the paddles. The exhaust "burp" at each shift is much more noticeable. I run Map 5 at ~15 PSI.

I must be weird because I can't notice any difference with the Sport Button pressed.

Honestly it took me a while to really notice something. Once you're used to it you can feel a difference but it's not huge.

Strange. In my car the difference is obvious. It essentially wakes the car up. There is a change in sound, throttle response, shift points, etc. I'm wondering if there are hardware or software differences that cause the Sport button to have a more pronounced effect on the 135is.

No, it is quite pronounced and obvious in the 135i as well. At least with the stock software I have. Love the exhaust with the sport button engaged. When it's off you can get the car to make nice farts on up shifts but when it's engaged you can really get the car to bark loud on up shifts!
