Stage1+ COBB FMIC vs. DPs + Stage2 Sport map

Rookie question but can't really find a straight answer on the forum. Many members here suggest DPs as an early upgrade but looking at Cobb's n55 Map notes upgrading to an FMIC and running their Stage1+ COBB FMIC Sport map would produce better gains over DPs and their Stage2 Sport map. So it seems obvious to me what modification I should make next (FMIC) but why is this not the consensus?

Ahead of the response of "get DPs and come play with the big boys" I live in CA and don't really feel like having another thing to worry about (emissions, fines, etc). All I'm interested in is getting the best performance for my buck and FMIC seems like the way to go.

BTW car is stock beyond BMS intake and catback exhaust.

I would say cost. Dp's are cheaper that's just my guess.

Where are you seeing people recommend a DP over a FMIC? I'd say without a doubt a FMIC is a better upgrade. As kpro mentioned, it's quite a bit more expensive, that's about the only disadvantage. FMIC installed, for a cheaper one is going to be around 1k. A DP is like $250 and many can install it themselves.

You can see yourself when you look at cobbs maps, there is hardly any improvement from stage 1 to stage 2.

FMIC is your best option w/ Cobb maps
Personally I'm going DP first cuz of sound
Requirements:
Stage 1+ FMIC
Stage 2+ FMIC DP
We both are from Cali so we would have to run the sport maps, due to fuel requirements of 93+ octane for aggressive maps

It is hard to compare DP and FMIC and come up with a conclusion on which is a better choice

DP
Reduces back pressure, faster turbo spool, less heat, help the turbos keep max boost longer
better sound on the car
cheaper

FMIC
reduces Intake air temps so car can perform at 100% output

Either way,
Sounds like your next mod should be FMIC
