ET30 winter set - will it work?
I have a set of winter wheels and tires from my 2009 335i that was recently totaled. The new car will be a 2011 135i. The rims are 17x8 with an offset of +30mm. Tires are 225/40/17 Dunlops.
I emailed Gary at Tire Rack and he was nice enough to tell me that there should be no problem clearing the brakes, but he thought there might be some rub due to the offset and that I should do a test fitment. I am curious whether anyone has run or tested a similar set on a sport package 135i and can tell me what their experience was. I just ordered the car so it won't be in for a while. If the consensus is not to run them then I may throw them on craigslist before the car arrives. Any thoughts?

I dont have any personal experience with that aggressive of an offset (I'm running the breyton gts-r's). Based off what I've been reading on this forum the rears should be fine but the fronts might take some work.
Many of the more aggressive aftermarket wheels are running 8.5 (et 38-40) front and 9.5 (et 45-50) rears. In relation to the fender, you're running the same as a 8.5 et 36 and 9.5 et 49. So I'm thinking you'll have some trouble on the fronts. Strut side is fine. |
