Which PPk Do I Need?
I was looking at the PPK's for the 135i online at the BMW NA website yesterday.
Seems there are 3 different versions: 1) If you have the M-Bumper, about $1500 2) Another one if you have the "Performance bumper" whatever that is, $1500 3) Plain old Performance Kit, $750. I have a straight up 2012 135 convertible, only options are whatever package the leather seats are in, cold weather package and XM radio. Which package would I need?

Is the PPK2 worth the additional cost?

I'm sure there are different opinions on the subject. I guess it depends on the climate you live in and how hard you drive the car. I installed the PPK2 kit mainly for the additional cooling offered up by the auxiliary radiator and stronger fan. But I live in Florida when the summer heat and humidity can be brutal. In either case, the software is the same.

PPK 1
I live in Florida too, and my temp stays around 240 degrees with the PPK1. Same as before. Not sure if the extra cooling on the PPK 2 is worth it or not.

Unless you track the car the additional cooling is most likely going to be a waste of money.

PPK 1
Went to Orlando Speedworld today and did a few 1/4 mile runs. It was 86 degrees, and my engine temp never went higher than 250 degrees with the PPK1.
Best time was 13.2 at 103 mph. Other 2 were 13.4 at 105 mph. 7 speed DCT. |

Sure, but a 13 second run is much different than a 20 minute track session. I haven't heard of a single person going into limp mode at the drag strip because of over heating, while it's not uncommon on the track.

I think the list price is now $750. Installation is extra with labor being $135 per hour. Some places will negotiate on both the price of the kit and the amount of labor. Probably $1,000 out the door.
