teaser pics
Well... we had an AWESOME turn out yesterday with fantastic weather! I was feeling a little bit of //M-envy since I was the only 135i there! But we all enjoyed the day talking cars and having a nice drive up the mountain. I think we had three more 1M's show up after these pics were taken. I think one of the guys there said Switzerland has the most 1M's per person/population/country. I believe it! We also saw three other 1M's while out driving! lol
Here are two teaser pics that Sarah was nice enough to take with her phone... at the meeting place... a top of the mountain...

Yes, it is a wrap. You can see the car is really an AW 1M with the hood open and inner fender shots under the hood. The wrap is actually TWO wraps. A base wrap and then a translucent film or tint that changes the color. In photos the car come out grey... in real life its sort of a grey/green/silver color. Its very classy and definitely a one of a kind color. Its very close to the grey that Aston Martin use - I think. You might have missed these threads Rick that Stratus650 posted... My 1M in Candy Grey Metallic! http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ght=stratus650 Your opinions on Messing Metallic http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=694007 "... a wrap with active E hood?"... Yes! Stratus said it was hard to get, but he got one with Mr.Metek2you 's help. When the hood is open you notice how some of the cross bracing is missing to clear the ActiveE's batery pack under the hood. Stratus says this hood is actually lighter than the OE hood. Even though both are made from steel. What kind of CF intake was that? GruppeM Air Box from Japan(I think). Stratus said he found a good deal from a dealer in Australia. He paid in full, then the GruppeM factory/dealer in Japan builds YOUR cf intake to order. It takes some weeks... but the results were AWESOME>!! It was really a quality part. And it was much nicer than Manhart's cf airbox - I think. for (much)less than half of what Manhart wanted. Actually, I think this cf airbox even cost Stratus less than what a DINAN unit sells for. Stratus also had some really trick LED turn signal bulbs bought from Japan. I will post some pics & video soon. .

Man... that IS so sad! We even saw you too!! We waved but nothing. We saw one other BSM 1M when we first left the meeting point at the hotel... and when we got up to the top of the mountain... we saw some Opa in a BSM 1M as well. We were all shocked to see such an old guy driving a 1M. Young at heart - I am sure. The LED blinker bulbs were also from Japan. I'll let Stratus say where he got them... he told me but I forgot. I just remember him saying they were not cheap at $100 per bulb. I dare say they are worth it though!

Great pics Dack!
Sounds like you guys had a real gas! If I were still stationed in Deutschland I would have liked to join you folks. Your 135 was a nice contrast to the M's. In fact, I would have probably driven the Le Mans blue 135 if I had hooked up with this gang, if for no other reason than to provide more variety of color. As it was, this might be the only time in history ever that Titanium silver is a minority when more than 2 BMW's are joined.

Ok, here are my pics of Stratus650 's LED light bulbs. He says they are error free. He replaced both front and both rear orange bulbs with white LED's. When the LED's are on they are orange. And the light is quite bright and fast on/off/on... I LIKE 'EM!! each LED had eight mini LEDs on the X blade. You can see in my closeup pics the LED's.
a VO turn signal bulb up close to show you the difference woth an orange bulb vs a LED one. ** front LED turn signals... rear LED turn signals... (the rears were harder to see, I suspect at night it would be more obvious. |
