Reinstalling OEM springs

Rode around with my H&R sports on my base 128i for some time now, and as my friends and I try to reinstall the oem springs in time for turning the car back in, we realized that the shock settled lower to match the lower H&R spring height. Problem is that we can't compress the OEM spring enough to fit the tophat ontop because of the lower height.

Anyone have the same problem installing the OEM springs back on? Any shops around socal that can do this?

You should be able to pull the shock shaft back up. It didn't get physically smaller but you may have to use some force.

I had the same problem when I installed camber plates on to the stock shock/springs. I have installed Konis before and they are easy to pull out. The stock shocks are incredibly hard to get up to the right spot even with the stock spring fully compressed. I could not do it. The guy I took it to at the corner gas station shop could not either. I eventually dropped them off at an excellent independent shop near work and they were able to get the springs and shocks back together. I have no idea what they did though.

Sorry to jack the thread but is your 128i non sport? If so how many miles have you had your springs on the stock shocks. Any issues would you recommend it.
