This 135i is definately getting quicker and smoother!
Since delivery, my 135i has gotten much quicker and smoother without any doubt. It's a big difference I can really feel. This engine must really respond to a good break-in. I wonder just how good it might get?
Is anyone else noticing that as you put on more miles, your cars are getting quicker and smoother? No difference? A little better? or a whole lot better?

My break in period consists of about 100 WOTS and 700 miles so far.
Yes it did seem a little faster after about 500 miles. But at around 650 miles it just screamed and hauled ass! Oh, I got a DINAN flash at 650 *slipped my mind* |

I did as the SA advised...kept it under 4500 RPM for the first 1200 miles. At about 1000 miles, it did seem to get smoother in the shifter and the car did seem faster. I thought I was imagining things. It is stupidly fast.

This car is now flying compared to when I first took delivery! It's an amazing transformation. I hope everyone here is (or will be) experiencing this.

I totally agree. The car is shifting so much better from 1 to 2, I might not remove the CDV.

Man, you guys are making my mouth water. Better after break-in? I'm glad I went with the 135i instead of the Porsche Cayman S. More horsepower at half the price, and in my opinion a nicer looking car...Still awaiting transport, I think it goes on a cruise April 11. Happy motoring and everyone enjoy but stay safe......

The increase in smoothness and speed that is so profound is all about the engine for me. The shifting has been very good all along. But even after 500 miles, the engine starting getting much silkier. And it just keeps getting better.
Amazing and wonderful surpriise. What a rocket! For those that test drove one with low miles... this engine will end up even faster and smoother than what you experienced on your test drive!!!

Hmmm... since they keep getting better and better, Car & Driver should re-test one after it's well past the break-in period instead of when it's brand new!! 0-60 might get closer to 4.5, or 4.6!

The TT engine and MT in my 335i Coupe continue to become smoother and quicker. I really began noticing a difference after 750 miles and it continues to get better as I approach 4,000 miles.

i was thinking exactly that when i test drove the 135 for the first time: the shifter and motor seemed tight. glad to see people are seeing a smoother and faster car after some miles. from my experience with 2 past bmws, they tend to hit their stride at around 7-10k mi on the clock.

Agreed. The 2 new BMWs I've had (2002 325i & 2004 330i) seemed to loosen up continually for the first 9-10 thousand miles. These motors have much tighter tolerances than most, so it takes a while...
