trouble installing intake

I just got the AFE stage 2 for the N55. I cannot get the intake tubing into the OEM rubber boot. It is too big. I even tore the boot a little bit! Any ideas?
thanks

Go in at an angle then use some muscle lol.. its tough but it will go in.. once one side is in turn it around and push it from the other side at an angle to get it in.. dont think there is an easy way.

I just noticed that my instruction pamphlet says "model:335 E90/92/93". I have an E82!
Is that why it doesn't fit?

According to someone who posted in one of the AFE intake sale threads in the commercial section the 3 and 1 series have the same engine bay spacing for the N55s.. but ya I would call the dealer you dealt with just to double check.

ok. i took off the oem rubber boot and it seems to have worked. the AFE silicone sleeve is very slippery so it was hard to keep it in place as i tightened it but it seems to work.

I have been out of town. I drove it the day I installed it and it was ok. I did not have time to drive much since the install.
I drove it yesterday briefly and got CEL. Then an engine symbol that was half light and half dark! Then some other lights! It went into a severe limp mode! Stopped the car and tightned the band on the tube. It seemed to be very loose. CEL still on but other lights out. I drove it to work today and it seems ok except for the check engine light. Will my old e46 scan tool work with the e82? Maybe I can clear the code. Or maybe Auto Zone?

i also installed the intake and took it off they connection between the afe intake pipe and stock pipe is no where close to being 100% fit if you tighten it too much the stock pipe just pops out. i dnt trust it will keep a solid connection so ive taken it off and going to sell it if Afe doesnt offer some kind of fix because i wont keep something i dont trust on my car!

I washed it to make it less slippery, then tightned it "not too tight" which resulted in it being loose a couple days later. but now I tightened it more and it seems ok. I should check again. I was thinking that some duct tape would lend some friction to keep it from slipping intil the clzamp can take hold aftr it "settles in" a little.

you and that injen. i would have to say that my install seemed easier than redrums. the only sang we got in was my buddy lost one of his tools which we needed so we wasted about 20 minutes looking for it. so far i love the intake. no CEL's or anything and i drove back home 35 miles.
