I've switched to the PFC08 pads and added brake ducts (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...1030176&page=2)
I've just used the Turner Motorsports caliper rebuild kit on the front; we'll see how that goes. When I rebuilt my calipers, the dust boots were gone and the ceramic piston caps were gone, but the seals looked fine. If you want to keep the stock calipers, then it's just going to be a maintenance thing. Every once in a while, rebuild the calipers. -Joe |

Thanks for the clarification Bullitt. I may go ahead and give the RB boots a shot then.

I suppose the Centric seals and dust boots are sold together through.

After my brake service job yesteday (Motul RBF600 fluid replacement, inner-to-outer pad swap, clean up of all contact points, and thin coat of copper grease), I noticed that one of my driver side pistons had begun to chip. Dust boots are disintegrated as well, but I dont care as much about that. I used my Dremel to carefully smooth out the chip with very good results, and will start the lapping season like this.
Will be ordering pistons soon. Will email RB to see if that have their piston seal issue sorted out for owners that see freezing weather. If not, will order seals from Zeckhausen, boots and pistons from RB. Any one know of a good DIY to the 135i caliper rebuild?

While I was on the RB site today, contemplating ordering their caliper rebuild kit, to my surprise the kits are no longer available or at least, they have been "temporarily" removed from their web site.
Would have been nice to order their stainless steel vented pistons...

Here's a 135i rebuild DIY with the RB pistons - also provides direct ordering links to the RB front and rear kits. Two things to note in the DIY: 1) use brake fluid or compatible lube when installing seals/pistons; 2) compressed air at 90psi is unnecessarily high

Ordered these Centric pressure seals but they're unfortunately different in size compared to the stock seals.
I posted in more detail here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...9&postcount=46 Last edited by Bullitt; 05-17-2015 at 07:02 PM.. Reason: Meant pressure seals, not dust boots. Post corrected. |

For the hardcore track guys, maybe it's time you upgrade the fronts to Stoptech BBK. Turner has 20% off now. If you were ever on the fence, now would be the time to buy new. $3200 down to $2600 or so. It's a huge investment but there's a lot of benefits:
Downside is rotors/pads are more expensive and you may need spacers or bigger wheels to clear the calipers. I have the ST40's on my Z and I'm a big fan of them. And FWIW upgrading fronts only will not change bias neither. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/show...e-kit-e82-135i |

I love my consistent braking power now, with PMU Club Racer RC09 pads, cooling ducts, fresh front Centric rotors, and stock front+rear calipers. I can switch between my summer style 261's and my winter style 73's that both clear the stock calipers.
