Engine wont go over 2000 rpm´s

Hi,

I took my 128i to the body shop for paint.
Before delivering the car everything was working fine.
Now the engine does not go above 2000 rpm´s, the driver window switches dont work, the passenger window does work, the remote does not open the trunk, the power locks work.
They say they only removed the door handles for painting and nothing else and that the battery drained because they left the doors and trunk open for a long time.
The car starts fine but not much else after that.
It shows the half engine light (in Yellow) on the dash.
Is it possible that some kind of anti theft device has activated, or some kind of limp mode is on?

Engine is running fine now. Have not driven the car though.
There was no signal to the Valvetronic.
Fixing the other bugs right now.

It sounds like they did alot more than take off the door trim for painting. I would make the body shop pay the bill and take the car to the dealer for proper repair.

The half engine light is 'limp' mode which is basically a safe mode. That's why the car wont rev above 2000. You won't know the reason until you scan for codes. +1 on having them front the bill, take it to a shop that can properly diagnose and repair.

Scan for codes, and +1 for making the body shop foot the bill. Keep us posted.

They had the car scanned and the problem was solved.
What I would like to know is what they did to put the car on limp mode.

Can be any number of things. What codes were showing? Those'll be your indicators.
