My 135i CPO came with these BMW CSL style wheels- Are they OEM?

Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get the someones knowledgable experience to help with what BMW/aftermarket wheel this is. I purchased a 2009 135i CPO, was told these are OEM wheels from the BMW dealer, but I have my doubts when trying to research came up dry...

It is a CSL style wheel, even has the (style 163) part #2282895, but the wheels are 18x8 and 18x9. I love the style and the unique silver color... My concern is that this CSL wheel only seem to be available in a 19" wheel, not 18". The same style 197 comes in an 18", but my wheels have the ///M emblem, are not the standard BMW wheel silver color and the part # is stamped on the front of the wheel (the 197's do not have the P/N stamped).
***Pictures attached***

So my question is:
- Anyone know if there was an OEM ///M wheel (this style) in an 18" wheel or is this a knock off? A CPO is supposed to have all genuine parts!
- Would love to know the offset and if spacers are installed.

Figured, next time I have the tires off the car, I can check for the BBS stamp on the wheel, measure the offset and check if there are spacers.

Any help would be amazing and very appreciated!

Thank you

They look like CSL reps. Definitely not standard 1 series wheels.

Thanks for the input Rodzilla.

It's just crazy that they are stamped replicas. Every replica I see doesn't have the stamp on the face of the wheel... Anyone else confirm?

I wonder if I have a case to complain to the dealer for selling replicas or just let it go.

I'm pretty sure Alufelgen has stamps on the face of their wheel.

those are Alufelgen CS7. In my opinion, the best oem look aftermarket 18" wheel with correct offsets for the 1 series.

Great! Thanks for the find and info, Eins.

Now, I can let this one rest... I love the wheel and finish! It was one of the reasons I liked the CPO so much. Glad to hear it is a quality wheel.

That's for four. They're a cold cast wheel, not forged, like wheels that would be $1k+ each.

after months of research, these were the wheels I bought for my 2011 128i, msport. No spacers, no rubbing, staggered setup, excellent finish. Im very satisfied with the quality of the wheel.

Matching the word 'quality' with reps may be a stretch. When you buy a rep, your not buying for quality, your buying for the look with out having to fork over the price. They are a decent looking rim, and won't break the bank.

Quality gages how good or bad something fulfills the requirements of the user. It usually comprises a group of characteristics that the end user is expecting from a product/service. In a wheel I expect decent weight, reliabilty , resistant finish, and a cosmetic style I like (this one if subjective). That's why I stated the Alufelgen CS7's are a quality wheel.

So you do realize that BMW doesn't actually make wheels, right? They buy them from folks that make wheels, generally not the highest quality wheel manufacturers either. My guess is that the replica of a BMW wheel, which is itself a replica of a cast BBS wheel, isn't any lesser quality than the BMW wheel.

of course i do, but thats besides the point. The CSL rep, is an imitation of a higher quality wheel. It's cheaper in part because of that lack of quality. To each his own, not critical, just pointing out the facts,.

Why do you consider the CSL wheel to be of higher quality than another wheel of similar design? The CSL wheel was not an original design, so calling something a rep of it is sort of saying that a four door car is a replica of a 1986 Hyundai Excel.

Do we know who made the CSL wheels? Ronal, BBS, OZ or someone else? If they were cast, what would make them any different than basically 99% of all other wheels which are also cast?

Not trying to be a pain, really just curious if you think that because BMW buys a wheel from someone to put on their cars that it must be higher quality than what's available aftermarket? I have no dog in this hunt, simply curious.

If I've come off as rude, it's probably my wife's fault, she's got me wound up about something unrelated to wheel quality.

I understand that Bmw does not make quality rims. Prior to my 1'er I owned 2 sti's and an Evo. Both cars while cheaper than a 1series, came with far superior rims. Neither car maker made the rims that came on the car. Even with that, when I replaced the rims, I upgraded to a lighter stronger rim. Now some in the Subaru community would opt for Rota 'reps' that looked similar to the Advans that I had on my Sti - to each his own. None of them would have made the claim though, that the Rota's were a better rim than the Advans that they imitated. More times than not, if a person went with Rota's it was because they wanted a cheap rim to track, or they couldn't afford the real thing. With Bmw, for some reason they opt to give you cheap, heavy rims. On top of that, alot of people who have Bmw's, will opt to put another cheaply made, heavy rim on their car. If you look at most of the higher end rim makers, you will find that they offer a rim that looks similar to the Csl rim. If you were to compare their rim, to the one above you find that their rim is both lighter, stronger, and better balanced. I've seen guys with rep rims, and to balance the rim, multiple weights were needed - making the rim even heavier. Not only that, especially for Japanese rims, they must past a quality test, or they can't be sold. I don't think the same claim can be made about Chinese made rims. Not bashing the rims, only stating the facts. For me, driving fast on a poorly built rim is not an option. All you have to do youtube search the topic, and you find how dangerous it can be.

Are Alufelgen still in business...?

There's been no response to an email for nearly a week, and when ringing the phone number on their website, a message says number has been disconected...?

Who is lowered on the CS7's and what tire are you using? Seems the 225/255's are a problem with rubbing. Is this the case? Not interested in clearance issues... and a .4 to .9" drop is on the horizon. The Conti ExtremeContact DW's have rounded sidewalls and might be a good fit?

Or did you stick with 215/245's? Thoughts?

Thanks!
