Looks like my post from yesterday has moved.

I am grateful for all the suggestions from all.

By using someone's advice to go one size wider, the Michlen PSS were cheap! They must plan on most owners using stock sizes and bang us BMW owners accordingly.

The 18 inch 225's and 255's were $870. a set whereas the 215/245's were $1058 after the $70. rebate.

So the $870 was not that much more than the Hancooks and a no-brainer in my book.

So thanks again, and I'm sharing the numbers so you may be informed.

Congratulations. All the reviews I have seen on the PS2s are favorable. I plan on the Conti Extreme Contact based upon higher treadwear rating and lower price. But they also have worse dry traction and cornering stability. It's nice we have choices and can balance the factors versus our criteria.

These are what I went with (the DW model) on my 335i in 235/265-18. I like the better ride characteristics and haven't noticed any real difference in cornering power or traction from the 225/255-18 Eagle F1 Assymetrics. But like you said, the 340 wear rating is great, and they have a more forgiving ride for those long trips. The OP got a great deal on his Michelins, though! If the 225/255 on my wife's 128i Convertible ever wear out, I may put some of the PS2s on her car.

I noticed the better treadwear rating, and price! on tire rack for the PSS. I'm still thinking of them a bit. I may actually go with the ultra performance all season contis. The price is abot the same as the maximum performance summer contis but the treadwear rating is 540. The ratings are also a little lower but still well over 8 at tire rack (I think it was 8.3 versus 8.6). The PSS look like a good alternative and I still might go that way. They are rated 9.2 or 3 and higher across the board than the Contis but they are about $150 more for my car and they will not last as long. The Contis also get the hazard warranty for nothing. But the Michelins are U. S. made.

I really do think they are all good alternatives and I'd probably be very happy with any of them. For my once a year autocross, I'd rather have the PSS. But for the rest of the year, I doubt it matters. All season is no big deal for me since I would generally drive my SUV in bad weather anyway. But 50% higher treadwear rating for only a slight loss of performance is attractive.

I am very happy w/ the current pricing on the PSS and was very surprised to see the difference between stock sizing and one up.

the 135 is one of the toys in the box and will not see 5K miles/ year so sticky is good.

I'll report on my driving impressions.

I'd highly recommend checking Discount Tire. The same tires came to $1,115 INSTALLED with tax plus the $70 Michellin gift card and a $30 Visa card from Discount tire, making the total $14 more than tire rack (for me) with installation included.

Unless you have someone to install them for free, I doubt you can find installation and disposal of your old tires for $14.

I have not used PS2s, but I dont think the PSS are really lasting that much longer than most other summer tires. I bought these hoping I would get a few more miles out of them. I got rid of the RFTs at 15K miles with some tread let. I have 6K miles on these tires, and I have .22" of tread left. The tread thinkness across all 4 tires ranges from .255 to .220". My guess is I will need all 4 tires in 6-8K miles.

What I was most surprised about was all 4 tires were wearing pretty close to equal. Typically I could go through 1 set of front tires for every 2 sets of rears. Not the case for me on these tires.

I do like the PSS, and do plan to buy them again. I was just surprised to see how fast they were wearing based on the numbers.

I hope you have proof of sale with your mileage. Michelin guarantees 30,000 miles for the front and 15,000 miles rear.

Where did you find the fronts are guaranteed to 30K. I have found where the guarantee is 30K, but If you have a staggered set up it is down to 15K. I did not see any exception for the front to maintain 30K.

Here's what the Michelin warranty says:

Note that if you use different size tires on the front and rear axles your
tires cannot be rotated as recommended by Michelin. As a result, the
mileage warranty on each rear tire will be half that specified.

Also, I see you're in Chandler, AZ. I assume the roads aren't wet too often. So I'd probably use them down to the legal limit 2/32" or even past that.
