Autobild: Audi A4 3.2 FSI vs BMW 330i vs Mercedes-Benz C350

Looks like that new Mercedes engine kicks some serious ass, as does the Audi 3.2. Translations are at the end of each paragraph.

BMW trying to keep up with Mercedes and Audi

Now... how did BMW score so low in maintenance cost when the first 4 years are free? Also, they seemed to be really caught up on the active steering, which is optional (and no one in their right mind seems to be getting it) and the styling, which is obviously biased. So I think everything they dinged the BMW on seem to be non-factor for the rest of us. We will have low maintenance cost , for the first 4 years at least, we don't have active steering, and the styling is based on personal preference. It appears that there's a trend of chosing the cheaper car to win heads up comparisons on magazine just because they offer the same things, on paper only. There is just a refinement in the BMW you can't put down on the specs when compared to a cheaper car. And as for the MB, I just gotta say when I drove my dad's car, it scares me, you feel like the car's driving you, not the other way around. So is this what us new BMW owners have to get use to? Constantly having people hating because you ARE the benchmark that everyone wants to measure up against?

interesting article, but you relly have to question a journalist that thinks the C class outhandles a 3 series. No engine will change how that cars drives and handles.. they also comment a few times on how the 3 series is twitchy on straight highways.. maybee they consider a good handling car one that is totally stable on a straight line, haha... in that case the S-class mercedes is the best handling car ever. lol.. this article was definatly written for a different audience... not car enthusiasts thats for sure.

the icing on the cake is when they say that for people looking to buy a C55, they should consider a C350 instead because it is close to being as good. Yea right, cosndier a C350 over a C55.. definatly not an enthusiast writing that article

when i read the review i was thinking the people who wrote it hated bmw!! but everyone has diffrent takes on cars! but i dont know why he said 6.5 sec. is enough for the mb, when the bmw is at 6.1 0-60. there is no way that a c can out handle a 3. i think the reviewer actually noticed the hesitation, unlike the other articles.

Audi has the best interior between the three? Haha, I laughed at that one.

Because it's not true. The interior of an Audi is just a Volkswagen interior covered in leather. They feel cheap, while the BMW interior feels solid. There is no comparison of the two.

I prefer the interior style of the new BMW's, but it's hard to argue the fact that Audi doesn't have great interiors. In fact, I don't think I have even seen a review that stated otherwise.

In all the South African car magazines they compare the same cars and the BMW won.

I understand where you are coming from, however I think the Audi is quite a bit more than a VW interior. They do feel extremely solid, more so than the BMW IMO. The buttons and switches feel are un-rivaled, but that's just my take.

I will take a BMW drivetrain over anything, anyday. However that BMW interior: Take away that top curve, and the decent wood finish, and you have a very nice copy of a Ford Tempo interior. Look closely.

Actually, in Germany BMWs only have a 2 year warranty and that does not cover maintainance costs. Only in America!!!

Audi's steering wheel looks so HORRIBLE!!! I used to like last gen's A4 (B6), but this new one looks like crap.

Ill have to ask for forgiveness in advance, but I actually used to like Volvo's crap interiors..(1998-2000)...At that point, I had never been in a bMW...Right before I bought my 04 325, I sat in almost every sport sedan in production, C-Class, A4, IS, etc...I liked them all, until I sat in the 3..

There is absolutely no comparison IMO..Forget about quality, BMW has always perfected class and conservatism..I rememebr looking at Audi's "purple" backlighting on an '02 A4, and it made me queasy after a while..The ambiance lighting alone in Bimmers is enough to surpass any competitor's interior..btw, do they still have that in the E90's?!

The Audi interior's quality might be good, but it looks like bad. Look at the pics above... the E90's flows so much nicer... it isn't all straight angles and boxes.

Looks sweet, but just a little too much plastic for 30 grand IMHO ...I need to constantly justify to myself spending that kind of cash, and only Bimmers can do that for me...I tested all the luxury SUV's as well with an open mind, and the X5 felt and looked like a damn living room ...Miles above the competition...
