9/15 SGM 135i ED Report
Delivered! Here are a couple choice Pictures
And I met up with bmwnr (Neil), whom I captured in a photo while his Jet black was revealed to him -- I really like this photo, though I wish I had perhaps focused on the car rather than the people. Either way, looks good I think! It was rainy and coldish (45) here today. Supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow, at which point I'll certainly take some more pictures! I'll update as things progress. 9/12 11am - call US Airways to confirm flight. Learn that my flight (4:30pm to PHL) was cancelled due to maintenance. Rebooked on 3:30pm. 9/12 2:30pm - arrive at BOS, told there is no record of me being re-booked to 3:30pm. That flight is now well oversold. I'm wait-listed and confirmed on 6:30pm flight 9/15 3:30pm - two standbys confirmed, I wasn't one of them. I wait for the 6:30pm flight. 9/12 6:00pm - waiting to board, flight delayed 20 minutes, which gives me ~ 12 minutes to connect from C20 to A24 in PHL. 9/13 2:30pm - departed bos 9/13 8:35pm - departed PHL 9/14 10:45am - arrived MUC 9/14 2:00pm - arrived Grafing bei München 9/14 11:30pm - tried to sleep 9/15 11:00am - arrived BMW Welt, checked in 9/15 1:50pm - Pre-delivery briefing 9/15 2:00pm - delivery 9/15 2:35pm - on the Autobahn :-) As I spent xmas eve sleeping on the floor of PHL 5 years ago, I will not chance spending another night there. So now I'm rebooked on the 2:30 to PHL tomorrow, connecting to Munich. GRR, and all of this run around on a business class ticket! Oh well, gives me another day here to pre-adjust to CET

Best of luck with the rest of the trip - maybe we'll see each other over there.

Checking in from the Premium Lounge at the welt, so far so good! Only 30 minutes or so to the beginning of the delivery process, though I have already seen my car. I sort of wish they kept it a little more under wraps until the revealing; excellent experience nonetheless.
Signed both the BMW and Bimmerfest guestbooks, and as I noted in the 'fest guestbook, here's to hoping that I can remain in compliance with the bimmerfest12 hour rule. I think it should be possible :-) Also worth noting is that I met up with fellow 1addict Neil (bmwnr) here. Stay in touch, Neil -- we'll both be at the Nürburgring at the same time! I also got some photos of you being introduced to your 1er, which I'll post for you sometime later this week.

Make sure you try the Erdinger Weissbier while you are there as well! Nice color choice BTW. I used to live and Germany and I regret not being able to get ED. Have fun and be safe on the Autobahn (watch out for the occasional stau...wink, wink)

I'm not as much a fan of Erdinger. My current favorite is Franziskaner, followed by Ayinger. Thanks, I do love this color! Yes, listening to bayern3 this morning, I will definitely push my trip to Salzburg out a couple hours to allow the A8 to clear up. Stau the whole way from Rosenheim to the border! Ugh!

Tomorrow is Berchtesgaden, the Eagles Nest, and Obersalzburg, then on to visit my friends in Bad Aibling. There actually wasn't much traffic or construction on the A8 when I travelled it today around 11am. However, it was a little bit rainy, so there was only maybe 5 miles that was open speed in aggregate. Hopefully it's more enjoyable in the other direction tomorrow!

Nice! Enjoy the trip. I will be picking up mine tomorrow in Spartanburg! It's been a long 3 months since we started the process, but after tomorrow all will be forgotten.

I'm a short 50km away. Do post your whereabouts occasionally. If I'm within drinking distance of you, we must meet up ;-)
Oh, more pics will come, perhaps on Saturday.

Re-delivered! Maybe a pic or two in the coming days.
Dropped off in Munich on 9/27, arrived New Jersey 10/19, arrived New Hampshire 10/28, delivered 10/29 Impressive logistics to complete the process in 31 days, though the longest 32 days of my life ;-)
