USAA Car-buying service?

Just wondering - did anyone use the USAA Car-buying service when they bought their 1er (or another car)? If so, what was your experience with the process? Thanks.

I used it to buy my 135i last year and I would recommend it. At the time, the USAA negotiated price was below Edmunds.com "what others are paying" so it served as a good starting point with the dealership.

Plus, the service is free so why not?

I was going to use it, but the three preferred dealers they gave me were all out of state and at least two hours away. I presented my local BMW dealer with the USAA deal and they matched it! So, no long drive necessary.

USAA is the best though ~ we used they're house buying service and got our mortgage through them. I've been with them for 14 years!

Wow! Still using car buying services. I used the Internet to determine my price between three dealers.

I probably would have used them but at the time I ordered my car they were still using the 2010 pricing/specs so it wasn't matching up.

USAA saved me a bundle because I used their data to get a great deal from my non-USAA affiliated dealer. If you have the invoice sheet and the USAA pre-negotiated deal, you are well-armed. Edmunds and others have not always beaten USAA's service.

BTW, I used their data in conjunction with an ED order. Didn't get the exact $500 over domestic invoice USAA had, but I did get $750 over ED Invoice and no MACO or Training fees.

USAA tried to give me only $9900 for my 1.

ServiceCU gave me $29,000.

I had good numbers on my credit score but only had credit for two years.
APR is 3.5% on 72 months.

Just to follow up - we ended up buying our grocery-getter sedan a few months ago (a 2011 Hyundai Sonata) using the USAA car-buying service. Fantastic experience, absolutely no cost or risk to it. Just filled out an online form indicating the specs we wanted, then were contacted by three local dealers with offers within a few days. All of the offers were well under the current KBB/Edmunds/True Car average prices for that car at that time.

Anyway, well worth giving it a try if you are a USAA member.

You can take that price in to any BMW dealer and they should match it easily. Then negotiating further down to get a better price...

The service is fantastic btw.

Been with them since 1967. Great company and auto buying service is terrific--my son was also very happy with the purchase of a Mercedes through USAA.

I'm on the other end of it (Dealer who works with the USAA service)

It's pretty easy and we'll give you a killer deal, try it out!

I haven't used it, but will tell you that they have the best customer service I have ever had overall. I have been a member since 1995 and they have never dissapionted me.

Just curious, how good of a killer deal would it be compared to what military can get through the military sales program?

I haven't done the military sales program, but if you're getting it below US invoice, that's better than what USAA would get you.

Thanks a bunch for the response. I know that we don't pay taxes on the purchase; however, I didn't know how much different the USAA car buying service was to military sales. We average about 10% below US MSRP on Military Sales is what I am told.

As long as you're a USAA member, it's free to use the service, so you might as well just log on, punch in specs for a car, and see what kind of price you'd get, then just compare it to military sales.

We used USAA CBS for my wife's 135i. We got $1250 below invoice. Just fyi...USAA has different agreements with different dealers. If they don't honor the agreement then USAA cuts them off. If anyone has questions about it...Call the CBS section for USAA.

i just sent mine in today to 2 local dealers and one in cali cant wait to see what i can get for an 2012 since it didnt have it on the site yet...looks like it will save alot.
