Last free maintenance is due - Any advice?

Hey everyone,

My last free maintenance service is now due (car has 47K miles), so I was wondering if anybody has any advice on what things I may ask to get changed at the dealer now before it has to come out of my pocket.

I know brake pads will not be changed without the warning from the car (still with original ones), but what about belts, charging the a/c, flushing the transmission, etc?

Thanks!

These are not 50k maintenance items. If there is a problem, the belt & A/C would be covered under warranty.

Spark plugs

I read that n54s require new plugs at 45k miles... So these should be covered although it doesn't show on the onboard computer.

I'm hoping to hit my last maint at 49k and plan to ask for this.

My car has an N52 so this doesn't apply.

Thanks Tom

Any filters (besides air) that I need to mention?

Does anybody know what is done at the 50k service?

They will only replace what is necessary usually. You can request and air filter and microfilter change, or an inspection I. Have you looked into the extended maintenance program?

According to the '08 Warranty/Service manual, there is no covered "50k service". The oil changes & brake pads/rotors are done when called for by CBS, the brake fluid is changed every two years, and the Inspection is required every 30,000 miles.

However, if you are going in for your final covered oil service, you might ask about wiper blades and the cabin filter.

How late can you make that purchase anyway? The dealer hasn't even mentioned it to me (yet?).

Thanks

I haven't asked yet about the maintenance program. I will when I actually bring the car into service next week.

Thanks again Tom

I checked the iDrive this morning and it shows a yellow triangle next to the front brake pads, saying that I need to contact BMW service to get them replaced in 1500 miles. Does this mean that they will be covered? Or do I need to wait for them to show less than 1000 miles? 500?

BTW, the warning for the front brake pads hasn't come up on the dashboard display yet.

Since you are approaching the end of your maintenance perod, I'd try to immediately set up an appointment for the brakes.
