Yeah, but I know Audi used to put a SMIC in that general location on some of their cars so figured I'd play it safe since I don't know for sure what it is

Good catch. Just looked back on M-Power.com and it wasn't on any of the previous unveilings including CCA and Paris!

Perhaps it's a $500 option? Part of the luxury pack? LOL

To my knowledge this is mandatory for Xenon head lights in Europe

Actually whats mandated by EU law is auto leveling system for HID/Xeons AND a washer system.

BMW puts those fixed ones on cars without the cold weather pack. For cars WITH cold weather package - they get the US style pop-up washers. Normally I only see the fixed washers on some US spec 128i's with Xeon but without cold weather package.

Maybe there is no more room for the pop-up style washer because of the extra cooling needed..

You know what I'm actually super curious about? What kind of oil they'll be using in that engine. Castol TWS 10W60 ("///M oil") or the regular BMW/Castrol 5W30? Conventional wisdom would suggest the regular BMW oil since it's still just an N54 but who knows.

Will this be a dealer breaker for ya? I don't see how BMW would use the thicker 10w60 oil. I think it will most likely come with the 5w30 syn castrol oil.

I do think BMW will say to do a 1,200 mile oil service and tranny and diff oil change. Unlike their zero maint crap on the non-M models.

Does ///M spec the 10W60 for the X5/X6M's as well? Seems kinda heavy for a FI engine?
