Additional Cup Holder??
I haven't got my car yet so I have a cup holder question...
On every on 1 series there are two cup holders below the armrest. I've seen pictures with an additional cup holder at the bottom of the center console on the right hand side of the shift stick. Do you actually have to buy this one? Does it come standard or within a package?? Thanks for the insights |

Every 1 has two cup holders.
Depending on whether or not you order iDrive determines where they are. You get the add-on one on the right hand side of the shifter if you order iDrive because the iDrive controller is located where one of the cupholders would be. Otherwise, they are both in the console. |

The additional cup holder comes with i-drive or any dealer allocation car that they change to suit an individual customer. All dealer allocations come with i-drive, if the dealer deletes i-drive for your order - the extra cupholder stays.

Is this cup holder easily removable? i.e. if my car comes with one, could I remove it and stow it away somewhere only to bring it back out when needed occasionally?

It's easily removable, However unlike the 6-series it was modeled after there is no place to stow it. When I take it off I usualy stick it in the little storage trench space between the rear seats, but it still kicks around back there. And just to re-iterate other info, Non iDrive cars will have the removable cup holder only if the original dealer allocation was for an iDrive car.

I believe the US spec model is the only one with 2 stock cup holders beneath the armrest.

I keep mine in the glove box. It pretty much fills it up, I also keep a few spare fuses and a small led flashlight in there. That about does it. I do use it on accasion when travelling with coffee or water. It is easier to use than the ones in the console, especially the useless one under the armrest.

My 128 came with the removable cup holder, but its not an iDrive car. BTW it pulls out, and pushes in easily, plus the hole has a little spring loaded aluminium lid to cover it up.
