confusion
Why is it that everybody always thinks our cars are M3's?
In the past 3 days I've had at least 5 different people ask me what my car is. I'm not complaining though, I guess when people get beat they just automatically think its gotta be an M3  |

Happens a lot here as well!! Every time I pull into a garage to get some petrol, the attendant always asks me if its an m3!

Yea I just had that happen to me at sears when i was picking up a compound miter saw. Drove around back to the pick up area and the delivery guy asked "oh your going to put this in an M3" I said no it a 1 series. He looks at me perplexed and says "A 1 seerriees!! Never heard of that"
Oh well in any event I got about 4 compliments on the car that day. One guy on the highway gave me 2 thumbs up.:thumbup:

All true...but most of all, the car's only been on the market now for a TOTAL of nine months. M3 Coupes have of course been around for a coon's age, thus, the comparison, given that the 135i Coupe is such a stunner. It could be construed that it's the future of the M3, given that cars will, regardless of the rationale, become smaller (displacement, size, etc) in the future.
The general public are not such car fanatics as people who spend time on forums.

Also, keep in mind the 135i has the same front bumper as the M3. If the cars are sitting side by side they might see the difference, but otherwise they might not notice. |

My wife drove the 135i a few times and a few of her coworkers were telling her that we have a M3 and were actually arguing with her about it!

As a forum fanatic it is my solemn responsibility to inform you that the front bumper on the 135i is NOT the same as the M3...only similar!:wink:

As for the M3 confusion, the damn thing looks like the Idea of the M3. The big gapeing front end with three holes, the little "wings" under the chin, short overhang, big rear wheels, Oval side mirrors. It's using the same visual language that the M3 has used for almost a decade now. And don't think that's not on purpose. |
