Nah you didn't hijack it...it is important to discuss this because I am tired of playing tire roulette myself.
I know little to nothing about offsets and the such..so I will let others who know more than I answer. I am really waiting for one of the wheel vendors to chime in...but I get the feeling they may not know the correct answer either.

yeah i was thinking the same thing myself. I see all the other vendors jump in pretty quickly on other people's threads here except this one. I was thinking they don't want to put out a recommendation and then it be wrong and get complaints and people questioning their knowledge. I guess it is safer to just stay away from this thread if your a vendor. I, myself, have no interest in playing "tire roulette". I dont have the time or the funds for it

Wishbone, don't worry....these cars are quite difficult to work with when it comes to tires and wheels. For your offsets which you have chosen, I would recommend going with a 245 tire. Don't worry about brand if you go with a 245. As I'm sure you know, the 255 is wider, so if you downsize the width a bit you should not rub. I currently have 9.5 +45 which means my wheel is pushed out (away from the brakes) and extra 3mm more than yours. I rub once in a while; over big bumps, and if I have 2 people in the rear seats.
So my recommendation would be to go with a 245 tire and you should be safe.
You basically ewant to stay away from ultra high performance tires as they usually have bulgy sidewalls.
Something like falken 452s should work well. I have bridgestone winters and seem to run a little narrow too. So bridgestones may run narrow in their non track tires.
RegArdless, these type of things require a little bit of research as it adds to the joy of owning your car. You learn more and more about cars along the way. If you look up a specific tire on the manufacturers website, they sometimes list a chart with the footprint or worth of a tire. With that you can generally get which brands are running wider than others.
It's nothing to be worried about though, if you encounter some rub, you have not waited 800 dollars or anything. If you take the car to a good body shop they can roll the inner tabs of the fender, and your rubbing should be cured. You won't experien e any Ill effects because of this.
Cheers.
Pm if you have anymore questions

Also, I'm not sure if you hove checked out the fitment thread on the top of this section of the forum. Most people have listed their tire sizes, and wheels offsets, and wether or not they are rubbing.

Mohammadz, I really appreciate you taking your time to try to explain this stuff to me. I have been looking at a lot of pictures of other people's cars and reading a lot of posts about wheels and tires on this site but it just seems that what rubs for some doesn't rub for others. Then there's those people that think they know it all and just say things will rub without any prior experience. It just all gets very confusing. I'd rather take someone's word that has had experience with wheels and tires on a 1er. So, I'm starting to lean towards the Falkens but I'm not sure if i like the look of having a 245 tire on the rear. Wouldn't that look really bad? Also, someone told me that since I'm on stock suspension that I could probably get away with using any brand of tire and probably not encounter any rubbing as long as I don't pack my car full of passengers. True or false?

Wishbone before you go for the Falkens look for some reviews of them...IIRC the Falkens are not the best performers out there....If you are on a budget I would go for some Hankooks or Kumho's as they are a great bang for buck...

Kuhmos will rub.. i have them on now the side walls are pretty squared.. I am planning on getting toyos or falkens next.. though I can get a really good price on nittos which suck since they might rub.... and yes i do not like the stretched look which my 225s up front has now.. the 255s in the rear look fine...

Sorry for the confusion...I was referring to quality, price, and overall dry grip...

Don't know about the hankook, but I have kumho KU31 255/30/19 on 19x9.5 wheels with ET45 and I rub. You have ET48? I think it might still rub.

wishbone...if you want to end this whole debacle of shopping for wheels forever, spend 80 dollars and have your rear fenders rolled. You will be able to run all sorts of 255s with no problems.

alright well if you want to run 19s, go advan imo
Im on coils at about a 1.5" more or less drop, and Im running 235/35 19 Advan AD08 tires on 19x8 +45 front, 19x9 +50 rear wheels.

It rubbed a little, and actually cut my passenger rear tire, but after rolling fenders, nothing rubs anymore. To be honest, I don't know of any 19" setup that will not rub if you're lowered. I mean if you want to stay monster-truck status and not rub, thats your thing lol
