Very upset with lease return charges...

went in for an lease return inspection since my lease is up in 2 months.
i have a total of 2 door dings cause by others hitting my car in a parking spot. approx 1/4" with no paint penetration.

$100 each dent. 2nd one is barely noticable unless you look perpendicular to the surface.

and 2 rear tires that they want $300 each. i baby the car and don't burn the tires at all.

i barely have any scratches on my front and rear bumpers and they wanna hit me with $200 wore of body damage????

have 8,000 miles UNDER the allowance and don't get any credit for that.

also leasing a different brand car from the same dealership... no credit

i had a Honda with much more damage and worn out tires which they didn't charge me a penny for.

I've been a loyal BMW fan for 10+ yrs...This is definitely my 1st and last BMW lease

other brands have an allowance of at least a few hundred for normal wear and tear

As you probably realize, this isn't BMW, but your dealer. Doesn't sound like there's any benefit to sticking with them, go to another.

you can download a lease return inspection document from the BMW owners website. Make sure that these standards are being used.

Also from the website...(not a joke - though it reads pretty funny)

"Included within your 90-day lease-end kit should have been your Ding-O-Meter. This along with your Inspection Form will help you predict any potential lease-end charges and make any necessary repairs before your lease expires.
The BMW Lease-end Inspection Form should be used in conjunction with your BMW Ding-O-Meter. Use it to make note of any dings, dents, scratches, cracks that need require repair and to anticipate any related charges. "

Yeah, I wouldn't lease another car from this dealer.

You can negotiate the fees. Just don't pay until they are willing to negotiate. I have done this with every car I had leased. Drop off the car and wait for the calls. Don't pay up front!

Some dealers are authorized to do there own lease turn in inspections.. Most rely on BMWFS to do it... BTW was this a BMW lease or thru another bank???

Via BMW you are allowed certain wear and tear, including dings.. there is a maximum amount per panel.. i think it is 3, as long as the fit within the "ding-o-meter" mentioned earlier..

If you have exceded the minimum damage, you can also have it repaired on your own before you turn it in...sometimes at a cheaper rate.

also.. look around and buy 2 used rear tires with 3/32nds... everybody does it and then you pass inspection. used tires are like 40/50 bucks... double check that price on the tires. i thought it was much less than that even for runflats.

If it's not too late, why don't you take it to a different dealer that sends lease turn ins back to BMWNA?

No lease turn-ins go to BMWNA.

There are no lease end charges by BMWFS, IF trading at a BMW/Mini dealer, and they take the car in trade, and pay-off BMWFS in the process. The dealer led you to believe BMWFS was somehow still charging as if you were simply returning the car. Unfortunately this is a widely common tale told by car dealers everywhere.

if you really think its excessive, why not hire a local who to pull the dings out (for what you are assuming would cost considerably less)

You can get the dings rubbed at many detailers for half that cost. If the rear tires are below BMW's min. then buy some used ones from the for sale section on this board. Come on, do a little homework for crying out loud.
