So is the 135i the 2nd fastest of the current non-M models?
"Fastest" -- in general terms (0-60 speed, 1/4 mile mark, etc.)
Only talking about 100% stock cars - no non-BMW mods at all. If the 135 has the same engine as the 335i and is a bit lighter then it should be a bit quicker in theory, correct? Too lazy to look, but I'm assuming that all of the current 6s are quicker (even though I bet they're a lot heavier) |

I would vote yes, in terms of simply quickness...
over all speed, I vote 550i or 650i... I've seen 550i sports get clocked at as little as 4.7, but not as consistently as the 135i has. |

BMW NA specs the following 0~60 times (Manual Transmission - Autos are .1" slower):
135i Coupe - 5.1 650i Coupe - 5.3 335i Coupe - 5.3 (5.5 for auto) 335i sedan - 5.4 (5.6 for auto) 550i Sedan - 5.4 Z4 3.0si - 5.6 http://www.bmwusa.com/ So BMW seems to think that the 135i is the quickest of the non M models. Tom |

Z8 is the fastest non M car. Followed closely by the 135i.

It would be interesting to find out what "previous generation" M cars the 135i beats!

BMW always lies on their numbers. the steps are quicker than the manuals, and the cars can do 0-60 in .5 seconds quicker usually than they admit.
car and driver has the 550 do 0-60 in 5.2 seconds while the 135i can get to the same speed in 4.7

Good thread sorry this is so long, Does anyone with a 135i have any friends that have a M3.. because I'm really interested in seeing some comparison. I know one thing I don't think the 135i will be faster than the new M3 LOL but I guess we will see. That new M3 looks like a animal.. too bad its way way out of my price range. I rather buy another house or property.
Here is my take after hitting 1,200 on my 135i I have been playing around turning the Traction control Off and fully getting to know my 135i if you get my drift. If you can get the Rubber to hold this car is scary fast and its so smooth, very deceptive, speed its very very under rated, for safety reasons I think every 135i owner really needs understand the power this car puts down, it can get you into trouble in a heart beat. **I have never driven a turbo engine car that accelerates like a N/A car so smoothly 0 lag the power is just always on tap. It felt completely different than the 3series. The more miles I put on the car I swear the more powerful it feels. At the rate its going I should have my 135i payed off in 2 years I honestly think this will be the first car I'm deciding on collecting. Its going to take one hell of a car to come along to per sway me into another ride.. A lot of persuasion.

there is no step out there that will keep up with the manual tranny unless the driver doesn't know what he's doing. If you are talking SMG, or the upcoming DSG-like trannies, that's a whole different story, but regular ol' steptronic? sorry, not so.

this thread is so funny. before i got my 335, folks on that board wanted to say it was as fast as an M5....
having owned both the M5 and 335, I can tell you that 0-60 numbers do not even come close to telling the whole story. the 135 and 335 are nice, but they are NOT Ms. On the road they can be as fun to drive as any M car (perhaps even more fun due to a more forgiving setup), and relatively close in performance, but on a track, TOTALLY different story. For most people, they aren't tracking the cars and it's a daily driver....but let's not pretend it is neck and neck with an M car that costs considerably more from the same company. There is a reason it costs more (elec suspension, lsd, bigger engine, etc etc etc)
