Need some input.....
I just switched my driving style around and now grab the lower part of the shifter when shifting. Prior, I was shifting my shifter way too fast and not moving the lever correctly. However, now that I've changed my driving style I now have to move the center console up and its very annoying. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Also, shifting into fifth gear is also a problem. I used to move right, then up to 5th when shifting into gear, but it feels horrible. Anyone have a pointer?

Slow down your shifting and learn to go through the gates properly. Why are you trying to shift so fast that you're missing gears anyways? This car doesn't rev fast enough that you have to shift in .2 seconds....you can almost take a breath between shifts to match revs perfectly.

Don't grab the bottom of the shifter. grab it from the top, and never make a fist around it, keep an open hand and guide the shifter in with light force, we have great gearboxes that don't need a lot of force.
the movements should be as follows: 1-2 use your finger tips to pull straight back 2-3 open hand parallel to the ground pushing forward, the car will move itself to the right gate for 3rd. 3-4 same as 1-2 4-5 use the palm of your hand to push the shifter forward and right 5-6 use your fingers to pull it back while slightly pushing to the right to keep the car from going back to 4th. What area do you live in? |

Hey SixBanger, about an hour north of Miami puts you near Pompano Beach just on the northern border of Fort Lauderdale doesn't it? My folks lived on A1A between Atlantic and Commercial Blvds in Pompano for years and I've been there quite often. I really like that area. Loved hanging at Aruba in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea right on the beach. Great conch chowder there.
