After the recent trip in the Dolomites I would not mind to go again. What a magical place and roads perfect for our cars.
I my case any time in July or August would be fine

Yeah... I'm starting to think of Italy again too. Its not too far for most of us... and there are so many places we can drive - to our hearts content!

Planning a roadtrip to Tuscany with my wife in August actually, by way of the Dolomites. Would be an added bonus if it worked out to coincided with your cruise tour.

Never did make it down to Route 500 a couple weeks ago, ended up going back to the Nurburgring instead.

I'm thinking that July would be best. Right now I am in the middle of moving... so I won't really have time in the next few weeks to plan anything. I think in early June I will have our summer trip all locked in.

I'm still unsure of either Italy or France for the location. IF we do decided on France... I could use some locations for over night stays. Does anyone know of some nice reasonably priced hotels in the French Alps?

Any time frame ? The other half wants to schedule July holidays.

My trips to the Dolomites were enticing for another visit. Awesome place. Rendez-vous in July (likely with some forum fellows - you know who you are, out there ).

Another forum fellow's 2013 ED might get us some ideas.

Exclamation 2015 tour date: July 17th/18th/19th - 2015!!!!!!

Ok guys,

Tour date is July 17th thru 19th at the Hotel Bellavista, in Canazei, Italy.

Room rates are 64 to 77 euros per person for "half board" meals included(breakfast and dinner). I've stayed at this hotel last year and its very nice. The food was excellent too as was the staff. The hotel sits in the heart of the Sella Mountains(Alps).

UPDATE: The cheap rooms are sold out. Available rooms are just under 100 euros now. Just FYI. Its still a steal from what we paid last year at the "other" hotel just up the street.

I'm waiting to hear back from the hotel for final confirmation. Then I will have everyone contact the hotel direct to lock in your room reservations.

Stay tuned.

No. This is the hotel I WANTED to stay at... but they were fully booked up due to a wedding.

Btw... here is a great video of Sella that Artemis pointed out to me.

These dates works perfect for me, count me in for the weekend. 9 hours in the car to get there will be worth it for the fun. Thanks for setting this up Dack.

Rainer(or anyone else) who wants to join us... send an email to the hotel to reserve your room(s). Tell them IF you want a SINGLE or DOUBLE room, Basic(64 euros) or Superior(77 euros) ... and which dates you will be staying. Tell them you are with the "BMW Club" so they know its us.

Dack,
When does the driving event actually start? Are we all driving in on Friday the 17th or are we driving the mountains that day? I have to be at work on Monday the 20th so I'm heading back Sunday afternoon. This will help me make my reservations for the hotel. Thanks again! - Rainier

Should be fine, Rainier.
  • Friday July 17 = arrival before dinner time;
  • Saturday July 18 = Grand Tour (starting after breakfast);
  • Sunday July 18 = drive back home (with possibility to do the four passes forming the "Sella Ronda", which normally takes about 75 minutes - see the yellow circle below - the hotel is located in the South-Western corner of it [Canazei]).
So you need half board ("mezza pensione") hotel reservations for two nights: Friday eve and Saturday eve.

Saturday will be our main day or driving.

Some of us will meet along our Southern route to Sella(Hotel Bella Vista) from the Black Forrest area and down into Austria/Switzerland and Italy. So really for some of us... the driving will start on Wednesday.

You could always meet us somewhere along our drive? There was some talk of going to Mulhouse France for a 1/2 day to visit the famous car museum there. Not sure IF the group still wants to do that ? I also thought we could stop at some off the wall places in the Black Forrest too.

However, Booking says that the hotel is full in the termin of our meeting...

Swagon, I sent them an e-mail last night and they told me that there are rooms available. I booked a single for 79 euro per night this morning.Try giving them a call and remind them that it's for the BMW club, maybe they didn't pick up on that. All the best and see you there.
