Hit pothole and the car went into safe mode
As the title states I hit a pothole and all the lights went off on the dashboard and my car went into safe mode. I had to get towed and with my luck the nearest auto shop open was BMW of Ridgefield in CT. They were not able to work on my car since the service department was closed for the day. I was told that a SA will call me tomorrow. What should I expect to hear from the dealer?

This is not the right forum for this post/thread.
For the DSC error I would also guess a wheel speed (ABS) sensor. They're not too hard to replace not hugely expensive. No idea on the passenger restraint system error, though.

HOLY SHEET. If im reading this right they are charging you 612.36 to diagnose the problems? WTF SMH.
My opionon/ 2 cents 1. get after market wheels or a used set of stock wheels, preferably the latter with tires to save you $$ in mean time. 2. Take the car to an independent shop. now that it runs and have them check the oil leak, and strut towers. 3. Every line item looks like it costs 2X what you would pay at a decent mechanic. Even my BMW of austin Dealer only charges 199 for an alignment 320 is a total rip off. 4. Take the Procede off and invest in Cobb or JB4 down the line. There is not a chance in hell id have it repaired there for 8 grand. id give them the double middle finger.. |

Haha "found an aftermarket tuner plugged into the ECU, removed it from the ECU without consulting the owner first and the car now drives fine, that must have been the issue" Man these places. Never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad I bought mine out of warranty.

As I'm reading further that was really shitty of them to just disconnect the Procede (or Preceed if you're a "professional") without even talking to you about it. At least you got a "World Class Inspection"
Just to make it easily searchable in Google... BMW of Ridgefield 746 Danbury Road Ridgefield, CT ● (203) 438-0471, is trying to charge you $418.90 for 1 tire, $515.25 for 1 wheel, they disconnected your tuner without asking, they charge $319.60 for an alignment, $560 for just diagnosing the problem, PLUS toss in services you don't currently need.

So I picked up my on Wednesday and the car is running great. All they did to the car was the battery cable recall witch was the cause of my troubles. So if you are due to get the recall done I suggest that you get it done ASAP. The other things they did was remove my Procede, rewired and reset my ECU . They also did the brake fluid flush (FOR FREE) and charged me for an hours worth of diagnostic. I'm taking the car to the shop this weekend to straighten out the strut tower and replace the upper strut mounts. Any suggestions on witch strut mounts I should get?

Anyone who has mangled strut tower areas, you can find reinforcement plates that go underneath. And you may want to sandwich them with a strut tower bar from the top side - you may need M3 nuts that are longer to get everything to bolt back up. I'm at work, but let me know if you need more info and I can reply back later.

You'll need extended lugs most likely (off an 1M/M3 I think) to get both the reinforcement plate and the strut tower bar to bolt on to the strut mount bolts (which are probably mangled as well). This is because the stock nuts are too short and won't grab onto the strut mount bolts enough. At least they were for my vert. Oh, and I ordered OEM strut mounts from getbmwparts, bolts were attached. The Shop in Norwalk, CT did the work for me. |
