Girl at work has a Fiat Abarth and took all the Fiat badging off and replaced then with all Ferrari badging because she thinks it's funny and it is.

What if he crammed an M88 in the engine bay? M1 engine and a 1 series, wouldn't that make it an M1?

Will that appease you????
I peel all the badges off of my car and just leave the roundels. i even debadged an M car. People will know what it is badge or no badge. I just have to please myself and not the world.

On the other hand, those owners have the right to do whatever they want to their car because it's theirs, and they don't need anyone's permission or approval. At the same time, if they display their car in public, whether that's driving it down the street, posting pics of it on a car forum, or whatever, they leave themselves open to criticism, like it or not.

For me, it's lighthearted and done in a joking way. Like saying "you're a poseur" or "that's sacrilege." I'm not serious about it and don't think most of us are either. I'm really just having some fun and I apologize to those offended. There, I have spoken. Hah!
Well said. I couldn't have said it better.
I was gonna put ///M license plate frame on my newly acquired 135i, but I better not. I guess I'll just keep it I'm my garage.

I have a slimline chrome frame with nothing on it around my rear plate. Classy and simple. No front plate. My wife has a frame that says "370Z" on her 370Z. Why? We know what she's driving.

BTW, an ///M license plate frame is permitted by the Car Gods. No sacrilege here.

I thought about this topic while watching a Mecum auto auction where several "clone" Chevelle 396's were sold. They didn't try to pass them off as the real deal but they were badged as 396's and most of the modifications were true to form. I have enough friends with M3's / M4's / M5's that I wouldn't dare put an M badge on my car lest I be ridiculed mercilessly but if you have modifications that meet or exceed the performance standard of the 1M coupe, who's to say you don't have the right to display accordingly. Just my $.02.

Since the thread has gone there, I'll chime in on something I saw on Saturday, a MKIV Jetta TDI with an Xdrive badge on the trunk. Really?!?!?

Or should I put in on my wife's Honda Pilot?

Saw a white E90 335i today with an ///M badge just to the left of its 335i badge, it looked like this: ///M335i.

Couldn't get a pic because we were in traffic and had to pay attention to what I was doing. The 3er quickly made a left turn into an elementary school parking lot.

I wanted a pic so I made a left as soon as I safely could, then went back and entered the school parking lot, but couldn't find the 335i. It must've dropped off a kid and left.

More sacrilege! Oh, the pain!

Speaking of letting things go, are you still denying yourself the opportunity to test drive and possibly own the best 1er that BMW makes?
