As you know, the stock pads have a lot of initial bite and a lot of dust. I prefer Cool Carbons, but it's a matter of taste. Cool Carbons have much less initial bite and much less dust. Hawk HPS is another popular choice, similar to Cool Carbon, but it's been a long time since I drove a car that had them, so I can't say exactly how they compare.
You can get the stock BMW pads here. |

Try Stoptech's new Street Performance brake pads.

2nd. They've been great on my 135i. Noiseless, reasonably decent braking, and my front wheels are completely clean silver and the rears are black since I haven't gotten a wash in a few weeks, so they're nearly dustless.

Cool carbons have been very good to us on the track, and for daily driving. The lower dust they provide is worth it all together to be honest, but that coupled with a better performing street/track compound pad, is amazing. |

Cool Carbon offers considerably more than reasonably decent braking.
Also dusting is less than 25% of OE after bed-in. Don't delay as our big sale on all Cool Carbon pads ends this month! Use coupon code: ccaugust15 |

Hey guys, I'm new here and have a question for you. Has anyone used the EBC "red stuff" pads? If so, what are your opinions of them? I don't do any track days or racing, but some spirited backroad driving. The dust and squeal of the stock pads has to go. Thanks in advancde![u2b][/u2b]

I do not know about Red Stuff. I am currently wearing out my yellow, and I love them. However if you want to get rid off dusting and squealing then the yellow stuff is not for you.

^ I think for your purpose cool carbons will be perfect. no dust and definitely an upgrade to the oem pads. however I need to give an update since my last posting. on my last track outing I experienced severe vibration when braking hard (130-50). I have noticed a lot of other people complaining about the same thing on the track. previously on a different slower track I didn't experience any vibration but this time around on a faster track it was very alarming. I will be switching over to carbotech next year. though definitely recommend cool carbons for their low dust and occasional track/spirited driving

"Reasonably decent braking" doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement of performance pads

For the past year I've been using stock pads on the street and Hawk DTC 70 race pads on the track. It requires an hour of labor on each end but well worth it.
