Delivered - My Sedona Red 123d M-Sport

Picked up my car today from the dealer. Spent about an hour with them going through all the features and finding out stuff even I didn't know about the car. So much technology in such a small package. Even the recirculation on the HVAC has an auto mode that goes to recirc when it detects pollution in the air! Too many features to list here.

After picking it up in the morning I spent an hour or so driving around Antwerpen before I had to go into work. Had lots of people admiring it there. I work at BMW Belux and this was the first MY09 1er coupe delivered.

After work I drove it to Brussels to have my front plate/sticker attached and that looks really good. Very pleased I found out about that. Then back to Antwerpen to pick up my partner and we went out to dinner in it.

All up I've managed about 200kms so far and it is great. No rattles. It feels solid and everything just works. Need to get used to having cruise control on a stalk though. I think I blinded a few people hitting the high beams when I was trying to set the cruise...

Very happy and can't wait to get up in the morning and drive it to work :biggrin:

The Red is BEAUTIFUL, VERY VERY SHARP. The new iDrive Screen looks very nice, big and extreamly crisp!

So the verdict on the new iDrive?

I gotta say that screen looks incredible! Congrats and have some celebratory moules and fritjes/beers/chocolates/waterzooi/vorhel zonder kop/speculoos!

I miss visiting Belgium now

The new iDrive is wonderful. I am really impressed with it. Much more intuitive than the old one. I think I have played with 90% of the functions now and I haven't had to open the manual.

The screen is sharp and clear and really big so there is heaps of room for displaying navigation and radio/music at the same time. The new controller makes it easy to flick from one section to another and, because it kind of works like Windows, it opens the different modules on top of one another so that if you were in Settings then flicked to Nav, when you go back to Settings it is still sitting in the same place.

My only complaint is the ridiculous accent on the UK English satnav woman. And she pronounces all the place names in Belgium wrong. Actually I have a feeling they may be computer generated in which case they're probably quite good.

I got two bottles of champagne from the dealer so they will have to be drunk soon. And yes, veel bier met stoofvlees en fritjes!

Congratulations, finally! The car looks fantastic and I'm so jealous of yournew iDrive. Make the 08 version look like a Commodore 64.

Interesting that the building you live in has parking spaces allocated for seahorses...

Seahorses AND carrots.

Now I need to learn how to use my SLR properly so I can take decent photos. Particularly to photograph the iDrive. Flash on, all you can see is the flash. Flash off, shutter speed too slow and I can't hold it steady. Need to suss some appropriate manual settings. Faster shutter speed, wider apperture I think...

Congrats on the new car, and great photos. I like the feature where the iDrive displays your txt msgs. How does that work anyways? Are all phones with bluetooth able to do that?

Thanks. I think it has to be one of the compatible bluetooth phones on the rather extensive list. My phone is a 4 year old Sony-Ericsson T630 and it works great. Each time the phone connects to the car it refreshes the list. Likewise it resyncs your contacts etc. Reasonably quick. Just don't try and access your messages the second you get in the car.
