It definitely sucks, no doubt! Having something you wanted so much and having finally got your hands on it only to have it unfairly taken away indefinitely can really try your patience. But in the end, it's just a car and overall I'm sure way worse could have happened. You'll get it back soon enough. But would definitely suck if you had to wait till December.

To help with your perspective, a coworker lost his dad in car accident last week. Out of the blue. One second we were laughing and talking about the day ahead, in the next breath he gets a call with the horrible news. Not to be too much of a downer, but something like that really makes you take stock of what's really important.

A bit of advice I saw in another thread, just imagine the worst case scenario and accept it. It'll help you accept the inevitable and move on taking the edge off the frustration and anxiety.

Best of luck mate! We're all hoping it works it for you sooner rather than later.

You are 100% right. No one was seriously injured and that alone is all I should be thinking of. Thank you friend, the wisdom is not taken for granted. I will keep you guys posted as I am.

Very cool man, appreciate the help. I really would like to put these on my car even if they are a tad bit longer than what we have stock. So even if they are not the same exact size, would they fit? I guess this relies on the diameter of the tip and being okay with it sticking out a little further... thanks again!

Oh yeah, so it turns out that there's some welding and cutting that's going to be necessary... bmw13 is still trying to figure out how to make it all work, but he'll give an update when all said and done I'm sure.

So, for now it doesn't look like quite the simple swap as once thought. It seems if you want fancy tips, you're gonna have to go with a 'slip on'... I'm guessing the 'cat-back' options that are out there?

Oh well...

The OP measurements of 60mm would have been the inside diameter of the end of the tail pipes..
What he should of measured was the outside diamater of the pipe coming out of the muffler.
You will find that that measurement is about 55mm..

You will have to fit a reducer to the NEW tail pipe to fit the OEM muffler.
