1M ordered from BMW Dubai!

Hello,
Just wanted to share with you guys that I have put a deposit for a 1M in VO!

I presently live in Dubai, UAE and apparently the BMW dealer here is only allocated to order one 1M per month... Since I am number 4 on the waiting list my car will only be ordered in July. and the car should be here in September... I don't really understand this weird 1 car/month allocation but I can't wait to have an official confirmation that my car is ordered!

Seems so far away!
To all the already lucky owners:

Your reviews are amazing!
Keep'em coming!

Congrats Sonny!

I guess one car per month will make the 1M more exclusive in Dubai than an SLR, or even a Ferrari 458

in that case, you should be happy lol

So Trutchy you are the 1 who will get the first 1M in Dubai? Congrats man! The guy at BMW told that the first car would get here in July. You are saying august so does that mean it is delayed? Which color did you pick?

Your going to get a 2011 year car? There is no 2012 1M's in my understanding.

Only the USA/Canada(Mexico?) get '11 model year cars. For the rest of the world the 1M will be built into 2012. Some say until mid summer.

Only in the USA do they use model year designation. For the rest of the world a car's age can be told by the month and year it was built/produced. ie: production date. The Germans call this Bau Jahr(Bj.) The Germans also go by the first date the car was registered - to determine how old the car is. I think the German way is a better system - to judge a car's age, because it is more exact.

OT, but if the Germans use this system then WHY does BMW count the Visual Inspection 12 month service from build date rather than registration date?

Most everyone when buying a used car in Germany ask(want to know) what was the build date (Bj) month/year. They also want to know when the car was first registered, called EZ (erstzulassung). Because some times the car could have sat at a dealer(or car collectors) lot and then registered six months later.

The Visual Inspection is from production date because that is service related.

Dealer tricks are quite homogenous over the globe: FI in the Netherlands you will be offered an 'XX model that is build one year earlier. I believe this is also related to several EU OEM's switching over to new models around April/May each year. Cars build up between April-May and EOY typically are named after the following year
