Normally that is the case. I was delighted to find what must have been an early 2011 model. Its N54 for sure!

I was 99% sure 2011 was only N55 and everything i am looking atbacks that up(ETK, Motortrend, Car and Driver, Edmunds). 2011 is when the LCI was introduced which also came the new engine. So i would have to say either you have a 2010, or a N55.

The listing on bmwpeabody website said 2010 model year. My car is a 9/2010 build, 2011 model year with N55 for reference

Right from the BMW computers my friend has I can see "vehicle production date: 2009/11" and the motor type is N54.

It was sold as a 2011. Kinda shitty I guess? Either way its the car I wanted and the motor I wanted, but how can the dealer call a 2009 a 2011 legally?

Maybe they mixed up the vehicle production date numbers "2009/11" when listing the car for sale. If that is the case, check on depreciation values between 2009 and 2011....unless you got a killer deal, you might get some money back in your pocket!

Pm me the last 7 of you VIN if you want and ill run it on DCS for you and give you a definitive answer. Whered you get the car? If build date is november of 2009, the car is a 2010 model year.

If hes looking at ETK, it lists it as he stated "2009/11" yours would read "2010/09"...sort of wierd but you get used to it working with it all the time

I had my buddy from BMW run the VIN for me. Definitely made in 09, but a 2010 model. They just screwed up. Its BMW of Peabody. Anyone know how much the difference of 2 years is worth roughly? I pick up the car monday. I wanted the N54, so I'll be taking it, but I'd really like it if they offered something to make up for it. Even that "polysteel" coating would make me happy lol.

Eeeeek lol. No warranty on mine. Just relying on friends at bmw and hoping just the covered stuff fails.

What is wrong with the spoiler? I was thinking I'll be getting the cf spoiler and a cf lip once I can find good ones. Also need those cf kidney grills. The interior is the woven aluminum looking one, Or I'd be pulling that out as well. If it was wood id go cf there too, but its nice as is. I'm really excited. My Evo was greatly adding to my back problems.

I pick up the car today. This morning I ordered the JB4 with usb cable, dual cone intake, and the clutch delay valve that is modified to bypass that. AKA the essentials.

Once I pay off a good chunk of it I'll likely run meth. These cars love it too much to avoid it.

Be very careful when running meth with a JB4. The only nightmares i've heard on the N54's are people running meth with a JB4. Jb4's run into a lot of timing issues in the higher RPM's.

Any more info on that? Not rushing to run meth at all, but everything I've read so far indicates that it'll run AMAZING with the JB4, so this is surprising to hear. I haven't done enough research to pick a kit or anything like that. Only nightmares I've heard of had to do with the engine bay mounting problems, and I was going to keep it in the trunk. Thanks!

What i've heard from tuners is the map is extremely agressive. I've seen maps of the timing on them and they are very sketchy. The first N54 car I know that was blown up was a JB4 car running meth. Trunk mount is the way to go by far. Be sure to by the nicest kit possible as well.

Did you hear that from Bren or anyone else? I can't help but wonder if its TRUE, or justification from them on a protune over a JB4 or whatever plug in etc.

I know a LOT of people around here praise Bren, but they have made some questionable tuning calls on evo x's and that was my last car. Seems to be hit or miss, but either way I already ordered the JB4.

I really don't know if there are issues with meth on the JB4, but I'll look into it. JB4 is definitely what I want to run, so hopefully it is issue free. If not I'll be avoiding meth. A lot of the meth kits have very intelligent failsafe systems too, but I'm pretty far away from adding meth.

I've heard these things from Bren and a couple BMW master techs. One at BMW Peabody and one from Wagner. I also know multiple people that have switched from the JB4 to Cobb as they were running into issues like their cars going into limp mode and getting knock up high (on cars not on meth). I prefer a Cobb AP but I can't speak of personal experience to the JB4. These are simply stories and things I have heard lol.

I can't think of any EVO X's that Bren has tuned. I only know of 2 evo 9's he tuned and they were complete beasts that ran flawlessly. I want to say he use to have a guy from Kaizen Tune the evo x's for him (but im not sure).

Also hopefully if you ordered BMS dci you get them...CARB just put a Cease and desist on all BMS products. BMS's main office is in CA

I thought they just weren't allowed to sell to people IN Cali now? I was just reading that today.

I'll be logging diligently with whatever tune. I hated the ap on my Evo x, but if I run into issues with the jb4 at least I'd be familiar with it. I wanted to get away from the hassles (and costs) of the protunes.

I'll probably add an intercooler when I get money to see if that helps contain the heat. I need to research each part before I buy it though. For now I'll be happy stock.
