I'm in the same boat, waiting on a v2 for n55. To satisfy my curiosity I inquired before the order and got this in response from Rick. Sounds like we should be alright.

Yep, v2 gauge works on n55 by getting data from the new manifold pressure sensor already on the n55 manifold. We started shipping them last week (It will takes us a while to get all the pre-orders out though, I build these suckers by hand ) and already have an n55 user who reported everything worked just great by simply popping the gauge into the vent and pluging it into the obd2 port. We get power, ground, and canbus data all from the port.

n55 + P3 gauge v2 = win
Oh yes it is! You can't go wrong.
I am the lucky tester of that v2 gauge on my n55 (2011 335i), see my review with pics and videos right here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513542 Its a piece of cake to install and you just can't stop pushing the boost recall button after every single WOT... |

but that vent gauge even in v2, still isint compatible when using jb4, because it uses all the bandwith. am i correct?
this is why its still important for some of us, where to tap for boost. thanks! |

typically you'll want to tap somewhere after the throttle body (probably in the intake runners somewhere)
this way you get both a boost and vacuum readout if you want just boost I would think anywhere along the intake tract past the turbo will be fine (IC piping from turbo all the way to intake manifold) |
