Need advice on car cover

Looking to get a car cover for the 135i. I don't need a heavy duty outdoor one, the car sits in a climate controled parking 24/7, however it is a public garage and gets dusty from all the cars coming in/out (and on a dark color like this you see it immediately).

I love the Covercraft Form-Fit on my RS4, but checking Covercraft's website it is not offered in the 1 series. I've had the Bavarian Autosport cover for my ///M5, but honestly not impressed. What are you guys using (I figure something like the Noah cover is really more for outdoors and overkill).

BMW makes a very nice indoor only cover. It is most expensive one they make. I have it and it is definitely indoor only as it would not be good if it got wet. It is dark gray so it might show the dirt and dust more than a light colored one.

For indoor/outdoor I had one custom made out of terry cloth material, problem was it cost over 500 dollars, but sure is soft.

That's exactly what I have on my RS4, it is called Form Fit and is custom designed by Covercraft. It feels like flannel, very heavy and stretchable, and perfect like-a-glove fit as it is custom (for example, they even accounted for the slight difference in mirror size relative to a regular A4).

I called Covercraft, and while they don't have it listed, they said they can make a custom Form-Fit for the 135i as they have the car's dimensions. Problem is - they want over $400 And it is a little bulkier relative to others when stored, given the smaller trunk space I may opt for something not as fancy...

Well, I pulled the trigger. I spoke to CoverCraft, it took them a while to locate, but it turns out they do have the custom specs for the 135i coupe and can build me a custom FormFit. If you guys have ever had it, you will appreciate its beauty and form. Softest to the touch (flannel like), thick enough to protect against scrapes and door dings, 100% dust protective, and only one that is actually lycra based and extendible (hence why it fits like a glove, or actually more like pantyhose!) LOL

Shopped around some of their resellers (as they don't sell directly), and cheapest one I got was $320 with free shipping, no tax and free bag. Most places were asking in the $400s! Certainly expensive, but worth it IMO (I recon I will need 1/2 the annual car washes now that I have it).

Unlike OP, I will need an exterior car cover since my 1ster will not be garaged. Is the exterior cover BMW sells sufficient? Or should I purchase another brand, and if so, recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Now that I've done (extensive) research, here is what I recommend you do. Call Covercraft directly, and speak to their Outlet store. They don't sell products through the company UNLESS it is through the Outlet Store which on occassion offers very good discounts (e.g. in cases where they have extra fabric laying around).

They offer their best outdoor cover (WeatherShield) for 40% less than list, however only in Black (they apparently order more of the fabric). Here is the link:

http://www.covercraft.com/cover_sale.htm

So if you don't have an issue with the color (which granted will show more dirt/dust than say light gray), you can get a cover that is in the $300s for high $100s!

Black is a little strong as far as car covers go, but nice discount. Thanks for the info, I've hear good mention of Covercraft and will take a look at it!

Covercraft FTW! It is the leader out there. You may also consider there Noah product, loads of websites sell it so you can shop around.

Don't by the Bavarian Autosport one, I had it on my M5 and didn't like it. Check the stock BMW one, I wouldn't be surprised if it is made by Covercraft (for which BMW would naturally charge double) LOL

I'm selling my brand new Noah car cover if you're intested.

I just purchased one for my truck. I got it from https://www.carcovers.com/covers/truck.html the Indoor Black Satin Shield Truck Cover For Truck. I highly recommend it. Quick and easy to use. A very nice cover and an excellent product. Proven and tested during windy days the cover stayed in place with the wind clips.

Sorry, a little late to this thread but BMW actually makes a really nice indoor cover for the E82. I lucked out an snagged one of Ebay for less than $200 new. It's also sold as an outdoor cover but it's thin material and I'd only use indoors. Comes with nice M designation also.
