White 1M from BMW HQ spotted again in Basingstoke

Basingstoke is just a few miles away from Braacknell HQ.

Not stunning pictures admittedly:

I hope AW will look more exciting in person, the pics probably don't do it justice.

The 1er, in general, doesn't photograph well. Looks so much better irl when you can appreciate the lines and curves.

I agree, but compared to the VO pics, the AW looks a little bit "boring" (still a beautiful car, though). It's probably due to the lack of reflections of the light (which is a disadvantage of the white color in general).

Stock form running from 3rd gear it was tight, sometimes I would pull, sometimes we were pretty even (it was close, and they both had exhaust mods) With a JB3 its not even close... so 1m with 340HP should walk the RS4 (RS4s weigh like 3900 lbs).

As far as white, the only reason I dont want to switch from VO to white is because a polished white car just doesnt have that depth that the metallic VO will have.
Since I have both, I can tell you this, in stock form, 135i vs. RS4 is no contest.

JB3 Map 5, once again no contest, except winners are reversed

On same dyno, my stock 135i dynoed at 280whp, with map 5 (and Maddad DP-back exhaust), 362whp. My RS4 after it's most recent carbon buildup cleaning dynoed at 346awhp (and 304awhp before the cleaning!) So a lot will depend on how 'clean' the RS4 you are running against is.

Car on this video is a B7 S4 tiptronic (as was pointed out, RS4s are all manual).

Are you saying that you raced your 135 (stock) along side your RS4 - from a third gear pull and the RS4 ran away from the 135? Or light to light - for example?

Also, after your JB3 -Map 5 installation, did you race both again (light to light) and the 135 walked your RS?

Pretty much yes to both. I have 'raced' the two cars alongside each other, with a friend naturally given I am not that ambideterous to drive both at the same time We switched cars later and same result, so there was no driver factor. It was not a stoplight to stoplight scenario, but rather on a clear stretch of road.

It started with a rolling 2nd gear pull through 4th. Considering the parasytic losses of the Quattro AWD system, at high speeds the RS4 generally loses ground (although not enough for the stock 135i to catch up with it). If you watch some videos of it against the M3 it is pretty evident, the RS4 hooks up better at launch and loses ground at tripple digit speeds. With the Map 5 the 135i was faster pretty much from the start (again at 2nd gear). Not surprising as it is nearly 600lbs lighter and has over 100+ lb of tq in its favor.

Here is what the 2 dynographs look like on the same dyno machine (Map5 and MadDad vs. a pretty badly carbon-infested RS4 at the time [current dyno is 346awhp/285awtq after the clean]). I should probably try them out again although I recon the weight and tq disadvantage is too big for the RS4 to overcome.
