Warm Comfort Access Handles
I have a 2008 135i and I've been getting the P2DED Power management, standby current control error code for the past month and thought my battery was just on it's way out. Well, this morning I opened my car from the passenger side, which I rarely do, and noticed that the handle was very warm. It appears that there is a short or something in the handle causing excess current draw.
Does anyone know which fuse I can pull to disable comfort access until I have time to diagnose the door handle? The little symbols on the fuse card are not very helpful and the few I tried didn't work. |

I was able to remove the handle and just clipped the wires for the comfort access. The dealer is telling me that to replace just the handle would require coding. Does anyone know if thats true?

Yes, coding is required. My passenger side CA handle stopped working, so it had to be shipped in from Germany and coded to my car.

Do you know if used handles can be coded to another car? I assume they are not one time programmable and the DME just needs to learn the serial number of the handle.
