BMW Performance Mods

I have taken the plunge and payed the dollars for BMW Performance parts, I can tell you that I have been happy with every mod I have installed and feel that our support of BMW factory will only improve furture BMW development and products. Oh by the way, I will be first in line for an M1.
Aloha!

Wished Hartge made a body mod for the 128i T_T
Just chiming in.. but the performance body kit fits the 128i you just dont need the air ducts. You may also put a 135i bumper on a 128i if you choose and it will fit. I know for fact, because I sold my bumper to a 128i owner who fitted the bumper,

From an exterior standpint, you can make you vehicle look like a 135i SPOT ON so if you like the look and style, technically you can change it out to look like a 135i and or BMW performance look

How are you 128i guys only getting like 22 highway?

I consistently get low 30s sustained on the road trips between NYC and Syracuse.

I went 128i because I mainly drive on the highway, but also through Indian land, so I have to deal with ticket happy cops all along the way. The 128i gives me somewhat better gas mileage, and to be honest, between BMW and VW I have heard way too many HPFP stories to feel comfortable with the 135i just now.

That being said, if I could get a mod to bring out a bit more in my ride, then I would love to have it. I do not, however, want to get all sported out. My color/interior is somewhat dignified, classy and 'age appropriate', at least for now...

I went with 128 because this HP madness, you will always want more, might as well start with the smallest this is my 1st bimmer as you may guess. 2nd mod I will be doing my car will be suspension and m3 bushings.

We really drive our cars cause we love it that much. At D drive i avg around 27- 28mpg mostly highway, if i put it on steptronic, it goes down to 23-24, DS mode is about the same 23-24. Also depends on how fast people go with their 128i and how aggressive they drive. In Cali everyone avgs at about 75mph on the normal lanes, and on the fast lanes we usually avg 85-90. I avg around 80+ everyday short sprints would be at 105mph tops. Its seriously not what car you drive its how you drive your car. The extra HP doesnt make a jack load of difference, it only makes a difference when you go up a hill or when you initally take off from a red light. Other than that the mpg should avg the same as 128i in comparison to 135i. Obvioulsy if you avg like 65-70 mph you would get the max amount of mpg, but who would do that unless you are super low on gas like how i usually am on my way back from work.

I have the BMW performance intake, exhaust, SSK and steering wheel. I am extremely happy with it. The only thing I'd change is the throttle response. If the throttle was a bit more sensitive that would be perfect.

You know how in an automatic the throttle response of DS is faster than D? on the manual, it feels like its at D. I wish it was at DS.

Of course I could get a tune (and I probably will end up doing it) but if BMW could provide the same throttle response as the automatic DS mode so you can keep warranty, I'd be all over it.

What do you mean by we really drive our cars cause we love it that much. Are you saying that because I don't drive balls out all of the time that I don't love my car? I've put 32 thousand miles on my car in a year and a half. Most of that time on highways cruising between 70 and 80. I am also not the slowest driver in corners either. Just because I like a comfortinlw commute does mean that I don't drive my car. 22 mpg highway is very low for this car. And gas mileage would be slighty affected by the turbos. Not by much...bt it does make a difference.

1. YES. Would love more of a kick. Would do this under warranty since I am getting bored of the lack of "oomph" as DD. On track, I feel I would be fine with this power. Also, upset that engine is detuned so much and there isn't any easy way to get it back..yet..

2. YES. Would like more, within reason, and reliable power..

3. NO. I do not like turbos, never have, and probably never will (coming from an E46 M3). I had wanted a NA car to learn how to track properly, just disappointed in lack of support of N52 after I purchased..did not research into this beforehand...and that is my regret.

I figured coming from an e46 m3 to a much slower and "normal" car would be a great learning experience, especially from SMG to 6MT, and learning how to make a slower car drive fast...but would still like driving experience to be more enhanced..
