Non-OEM Tints
Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone's had their coupe tinted in the last few months? I'm looking at the Octane tint from Tint-a-Car, but don't know what they are like in terms of quality and pricing. If anyone has any recommendations, would love to hear! Cheers, Alex |

I just got mine done a couple weeks ago with Tint-A-Car. I got the Bolle tint and it looks sensational.

A couple dodgy photos taken just now on my phone. It looks much better in real life.

I got my car tinted with Tint-a-car not long ago, used the forumla 1 tint which i have had previously. Very happy with the product.
Installation on the 135i was great on all the side windows (getting the tint to stick well around the "black balls" around the egde of the windows on BMWs can be difficult, but he did a good job). Although the rear tint managed to get 2 carpet hairs stuck under the tint during installation, i am not happy with the work and want it replaced, it hasnt happened yet... He said he will replace the tint, but has warned that damage can occur to car trim with glue remover. After i commented that i am / should be covered for damage during installation and he agreed, my job re-do keeps getting put off! In terms of the product i would vouch for it, just look for a reputable franchisee (installer). Hopefully mine will get fixed soon. my coupe was tinted by universal tint in brookvale - cost about $300. can't remember which one it was though
would highly recommend it except it'd be nice if it adhered more tightly around the black dots... but no biggie. they said they do the OEM tinting for bmw col crawford which i believe since the warranty card they gave me had the bmw col crawford sticker on it iirc lol |

I paid $350 for the F1 (on a hatch, not coupe). Looks excellent, though there must have been some dirt in the felt seal on one of the rear windows because the tint is a bit scratched from going up and down.

Thanks everyone for your input, definitely not impressed with Tint-A-Car's quote as it seems the prices have inflated.
Hornsby isn't too far for me, so i may throw them an email; thanks so much 135Bandit |

How come you didn't get Brett (formerly of Tint-a-Car Camberwell) to do it this time?

there's a Tint-a-car just around the corner from my house, and I have a bit of a thing for supporting local businesses wherever possible, assuming their price and quality is acceptable.

I negotiated with the dealer as the original asking price annoyed me. At the same time I have had stereo gear/radar detectors/tints/etc fitted in previous cars and when the rattles develop it becomes a lovely finger pointing exercise, that I can live without this time round.
So I am happy to pay the dealers to get the tint done and have the peace of mind of knowing that if/when any rattles arise I can get them sorted by the dealer. |
