The euro headlights cost 525Euros each for the adaptive ones, I went to the dealership here and thats the price they gave me.
So that translates into roughly 1200-1400 dollars depending on exchange rate. |

Damn Marcus. At today's exchange rate, it's actually closer to $1,500. So that translates to spending a grand and a half just to get rid of the amber reflectors. I don't like them much either, but I think $1,500 could be spent more wisely elsewhere.

You asked, and now they are available... I apologize for the lateness of this installation, but the oil & gas market tanked in the last two weeks and I have been absolutely crazy with work. I blame Bin Laden... not sure how, or why? But I do!
New photos of installed have been uploaded to my Mobile me page: http://gallery.me.com/jkballer/ Also, this modification is absolutely 100% not for amateurs as it requires the full bumper removal to get at the headlights. Allow 5-6 hours for your average handy car guy to complete this work. The amount of scratches and gouges on my hands is disgusting. Note, stayed tuned for full installation instructions on an upcoming post (hopefully tomorrow, but for sure this week), including BMW diagrams... The whole works people! JK |

They look great I must admit
But in my opinion, the U.S. amber have sth magical for me, at least in Europe. They're so rare that I really like them. Clear lenses have here all 1 Series BMWs, even the poor 116i hatchbacks. And finding a U. S. version here is very very hard. Beside, I like that U. S. have the cat eyes which are unfortunately illegal here in Europe |

The post has been updated and now contains full instructions on how to replace headlights on the BMW 1-series.
Note: Please refrain from all comments regarding amber vs clear, as it has been covered in other posts. I welcome all questions regarding anything related to the installation. Could one of the moderators please add a link to this in the DIY sticky, thanks! |

Hey There
I also have European headlights on my car Here is a pic http://picasaweb.google.com/vlkwagen...64093632372226 But the US spec lights illuminate differently than the Euro lights Look at this picture next and see what i mean http://picasaweb.google.com/vlkwagen...64245264932546 The Corner lights are illuminated with the headlights on, where as in Europe the corner lights only blink Can anyone help I looked for pins, but they all go through one big connector - so i need the wiring diagram Thanks Anthony |

hey anthony,
the e-code headlamps also have the e-code beam pattern too right, where the cutoff at the top of the beam pattern is really sharp and no light is above that line, where as US spec theres the line where the light cuts off and then a little bit of scattered and dim light above it right?

What's the big deal with being so secretive about where to get euro headlights? I've already spent half an hour looking for them online and haven't found anything.
