We lost another one.

Hey guys. Didn't even get a chance to introduce myself to the 1M forum. Just purchased my BSM 1M May 15th. Unfortunately, I was on my way to pick up my wife from the airport 3 hours away and was rear ended and pushed into the vehicle in front of me. I'm more bummed about losing her. I'm pretty sure it's totaled due to the airbags being deployed, rear quarter crumbled and the front had a pretty good impact. Fortunately, I'm fine.

So sorry!

Based on the pix and if the doors still open properly, I wouldn't assume it's totaled.

Really sorry for your misfortune.

Glad you're okay!
I used to live in Virginia Beach (If that's where you are), and people cannot drive down there............. I figure it's all the military/civilians coming from all over, and it just becomes chaotic. Just like DC

And that front collision looks like it took some frame damage...

Absolutely speechless.

Very glad to know that you emerged physically unscathed, though.

Dude so sorry to see this. It's just sickening to me.

I think there are two BSM at BMW Portland. I know one has a deposit but they aren't releasing it due to the airbag fix that's needed. You might want to give them a call.

Painful, especially since you didn't even have it a month.

I'm curious, if totaled, will insurance cover the real market values of these? Since nice examples go for low-mid $50s for an almost 5 year old car.

Out of curiosity, where did you buy it from? I bought a black one in May as well - not many available so we may have been looking a the same car.

Holy F that sucks majorly! How do you not get out and punch the responsible driver in the face

Glad you were ok man, best the wife wasn't in the car.

Consider buying back the car for ins if it gets totaled. I've seen salvage 1Ms sell for pretty penny. GL!

I remember in legends of the fall they mention fighting a grizzly bear being a good death. No one wants to loose a 1M but they guy that lost it in the track is a good death for 1M. Getting rear ended is a bad death! So sorry to go out like that but glad you are ok!

Sorry to hear that. That really sucks!

Not to add insult to injury but I installed one of these...

http://www.3rdbrakeflasher.com/brake...tor-p-183.html

May or may not help prevent a rear end collision, but it certainly can't hurt.

Again, sorry. Glad you're okay.

Also a good time to think about what we all have for insurance...stated value? ...could turn into an argument with insurance providers if they want to give you lower than what you think is fair market value on these now.

Or... you could have your brake lights coded to the EU specs(BFD2) coding which do this as well... on a panic emergency braking the third brake light will flash as long as your foot stays on the brake pedal.

BMW emergency Brake Force Display (BFD2)...

OP - sorry for your loss. I hope everything works out.

Do you know if this can be done with Carly? It's been a while since I've looked at their updates.

Would be very beneficial here in DC

Didn't know about that. Could do. I like that the one I have has an accelerometer in it so it flashes on initial application and then again if while still on the brakes you press harder, and yet again a third time if even harder. This along with a bunch of other features are programmable.
