The fun and games begin - warrantee claims
Sadly our beloved 135 is now with the dealer for warrantee claim work. Much of it is minor (PDC playing up and rattles) but there is one major issue. There is a significant flaw in the leather on the rear seat which we did not notice when we picked it up (did not exactly crawl around rear seat when we took delivery).
As you would expect with this type of issue it is up to BMW Australia not the dealer to assess and address. I'll be interested to see how they handled it. |

Kris - we have taken it back to Trivett where we bought it. I'll let you know how we go.
We used to take our cars to Alto and they were good at finding and fixing rattles but they lost their franchise. |

Kris - worst rattle is in passenger door... hit the slightest bump and off it goes... bloody annoying

I too question the leather on the rear seat on the right but I'm not sure if it is meant to be that way.

The leather has a indentation like a crease in it which over time runs the risk of developing into a rip when the leather dries out.
The Service Manager at the dealer was most unhappy as he said the pre-delivery checks at the dealer should have picked it up even if was not noticed in Germany (not to mention that the PDC did not function when we picked car up). Any way at this point the dealer is getting BMW to have a look at it. We will know in a few days what BMW Australia's position is. I hold out hope that a reasonable solution will be reached as this is our 4th BMW and they have always come to party on any issues we have had. |

Sorry to hear Cam2801... can you describe where this defect is in relation to the rear seat?
Also, concerning the rattle, does changing the window position make a difference? Just curious... |

We should be OK for 18th as the other issues are simple enough to resolve by then. If not we may bring the loan 3 series that Trivett gave us down just so we can meet you guys and see your 1ers |

Now it is not very often that I can honestly say that I have encountered truely excellent service. Today is one of those days. We were wondering why we had not heard from dealer. Reason for that is that they were too busy fixing every rattle, the dodgy PDC and here is the clincher for me replacing the rear seat. My hat is off to Trivett and BMW.
They say you are judged not by the problems you have but by how you address them. In this case they get 10 out of 10. |

It was a very pleasant surprise for the rea set issue to be resolved with no fuss and so quickly.
They took the rear set out of a demo as it was going to take months for a new one to arrive. That suited us fine and so far the rattles have all gone. Mind you Sydney's road may undo that in a hurry. You can not fault that kind of service. They acknowledged the problems and fixed with as little impact on us as they could. It is one of the reasons we drive a BMer. We had a horror run with Audi which I'll not bore everyone with in detail. |
