Tire Pressure -- Is This a Problem?

Recent low-pressure warnings from cold weather prompted me to take another look at my tire pressure. Looks like I've got 25psi in the fronts and 30 in the rears, identical on both sides.

I checked the manual and it says that for a 135i convertible with Sport package and the 215/245 tires I should have 39 psi in front and 41 psi in the rear. This matches the label on the door sill.

I'm still under 3k miles and I'm guessing here that the dealer underloaded the tires for some reason, perhaps through misunderstanding. Either that or I have an identical very slow leak in both front tires and an identical very slow leak in both rear tires. (cof)

Or is the manual wrong? In short, should I inflate them to the sticker values?

The cold weather probably changed the pressure in your tires a little. just inflate them to the sticker values

Check/inflate tires to BMW specs. Then reset the TPMS to learn your new target tire pressures.

Keep in mind that tires lose pressure over time. It is perfectly normal. You need to check them periodically.

15 psi in <2600 miles? Seems unlikely. I think the tires on my Solstice lost maybe 2 psi over 25,000 miles.

It is time, not miles. I believe the average I read is 2 psi per month. I've had some that lose slightly more and some that lose considerably less. So, who knows? You could have started with 30 in the front. No way of knowing if the dealer aired them up right before delivery. Couple that with the cold weather, which is absolutely true, too.

Only way to know if leaking is to start tracking it now that they are properly filled.

No way. My last five cars have lost maybe 1-2psi per year. If that.

Differences in climate, perhaps. I keep mine in a garage, and I do live in Florida. (shrug)
