small paint imperfections. help?
this might sound dumb, but im a noob to car care.
i bought a new to me 2009 bmw 128i looked perfect when i took it off the lot, then i got it washed and noticed some minor scuff marks and paint imperfections (a total of about 4 or 5) and a very small light scratch on the car. as well as some wear scuff on the wheels. someone told me to take it to a shop and for about 300$ they could fix it all...300$ seems steep for very small things like that, was just wondering if there was some way to get them fixed cheaper..? especially since i want to plasti dip some parts of the car and i dont want the paint imperfections there when i do plasti dip... so help? please and thanks |

If youre plastidipping parts of the car with the imperfections, the plastidip will cover them up and you shouldnt be able to see them through, assuming you do a few coats of the plastidip.
Paint work can be expensive. You will likely have them do a light wet-sand then polish of the clear coat, depending on the actual imperfection. That is a decent amount of work and you might as well do the whole car while its in and get the spring full detail done. |

Do you have any pictures you wish to share with us? What do you mean by "paint imperfectons"? Scratches? Swirls in the paint? Hazing?

Can you post pictures of the scratches. 300 for the whole car seems like a good deal. If its just for the scratches i would continue looking around.

Yeah thats what I figured. Just do the whole car, I know a shop that does color matching specifically for Euro cars. I don't know the price for a full car though. I do know that there is a auto body shop not to far from my house and they quoted me roughly 300$ to touch up the imperfections I currently have and small scuffs and scratches and this very very small dent on the passenger door. Which I've been told thats actually a very good price from a lot of people. BUT on the flip side for 300$ I can plastidip the whole car and have a gloss finish and that includes detailing my car before so its easier to take off the dip when I want it off.
