New Lexus LS460...I hate Japanese car designers
Let's just buy a 7 Series, copy it and call it a Lexus. Shark fin, Hoffmeister Kink, tail lights design. They disgust me!

It actually looks different to me. It's proportions are similar and these proportions are probably reasonably universal.
So much lexus bashing. But why? Half the threads in this forum are *Lexus is shit. My Bimmer is soooo soooo much better* Gawd some people need to grow up build a bridge and get over their the badge which seems to operate as an extention of their penis. This is a BMW forum, not a *lets reaffirm our egos by bashing other cars*. It kinda makes me not want to buy a BMW. |

you hate "japanese car designers"? Uh...are you saying you hate designers of Japanese cars, or designers who are Japanese?
Cause didn't a Japanese guy design the e90? |

wyrm11 I believe it's the one who designed the new bunch of Lexus cars. I have to say that i'm not pleased with Lexus' work ethics.

my dad is an old boring guy and loves his boring lexuses... in a way it makes me happy that it looks like a 7, cuz that means i can at least pretend im in a BMW.
On a side note.... i dont really like the exhaust on the LS, but i really like the fact that the exhaust shows at least. I hate how the 7 hides the exhaust

Lexus has a solid customer base and will sell every single new LS it makes. If a brand(and this isn't necessarily my opinion of Lexus) has cars that may be lacking in one of many areas that may not appeal so much to the consumer(largely relative), realibility will hit the home run everytime.

Good job Tine. There's no doubt that there are some major styling elements (e.g., the white horizontal rear tail light section) and overall shape and size of the vehicle that were copied. Then again, wasn't it Lexus that had the Start/Stop Engine button first?
And yes, a Japanese design engineer is responsible for our nice e90. I'm not Japanese btw. Regardless of who copies who, what ethnicity designers are, or what country of origin a car comes from, we must acknowledge that the best form of flattery is imitation. Yet as similar as the cars are, they are still different in many respects, and have their unique looks and attributes. Must we brand bash or belittle another make/model to make us feel better about the make of car we love? |
