OT - WTAC 2013, Sydney Motorsport Park

Did anyone go to see this event yesterday and today? I was there for a few hours this afternoon and got a few photos, still learning the panning technique.

Some amazing cars were there!

We (Flinchy and myself) went both days. Honestly, the Friday was much more interesting and overall had a better atmosphere, but both days were great

Sad to see such a lack of euros there though
We both plan on competing in the next year or two ^_^

Yes, they are all post edited with just Lightroom 5.

Yes, it was definitely a Jap autos dominant scene. Some of them do look fantastic though and the aero set up is pretty awesome.

Haha Quang I might just take you up on that. Not sure about what's required for WTAC but definitely interested in doing some supersprints at Wakefield or EC next year!

I'm wrecked! Such a long day friday with the 5am flight - left before the drifts just as tilton set their lap

Then a longer day sat, got there at 930-10, stayed til 9 watching tidc...

Friday truly was a better day in most ways. Not as busy, but it was before all the pro teams had issues, when all the top laps happened.. Pity they're such unreliable cars, and poor nemo (HUGE congrats to the mca Guys though) .. Also, so many smashes around the hill!!

Saturday was awesome for clubsprint and open though, and had the show and shine with some mental cars

And the flying 500 was terrible both days, not long enough and nitto underperformed as always

And the dissonance between announcers and race control needs massive improvement, stop talking over announcers ffs!

There was meant to be a few more euros that all pulled out (like a 600hp golf r in clubsprint).. Still a porsche 944 and an awesome lotus in pro

TL;DR:

Didn't feel like an INTL event, wasn't run like it.. 100% worthwhile, already excited for 2014.. Big things to be sure!

Rules are pretty straight forward especially for clubsprint

Clubsprint, to be competitive looks like 500-600whp+ solid, bang on minimum weight, a big wing, proper front splitter (less big) and canards, for aero

What's not entirely clear to me, is do you have to keep everything as your car came from factory body wise.. Or would a 1m body conversion be allowed, or otherwise modified to be the same width, considering it's the same chassis and still clubsprint legal

I think my car would probably be shoved straight into open though, which is kinda crap, considering it would really only cosmetically different

Both of us need big driver mods either way, so going to get on that for the next couple of years .. Be fun to get @BMWlady 's into clubsprint in a year or (more likely) two - barrier to entry is still pretty low unless you want to shoot for first or second, albeit getting higher all the time

Thanks Quang. From the looks of it I could compete in the club sprints with my mods however I would need to use the compulsory Advan AD08 tyre.
