OTTAWA meetings

Lets try and get a few of us together to meet and talk about our cars. I propose Thursday May 1st @ 7pm at the Tim Hortons @ Innes & Cyrville directly opposite Costco. Easy access off the 417. Who can make it?

I could make that - I'm more of a fan of Sunday mornings, cars and coffee type thing. And also maybe more central for the Westend people.

Tried to get something going last year, no one showed!

If there's enough interest I could make it out as well. A group drive at some point would be fun though.

Yes it would be. If there is interest I organized this cruise last year for a few people and had a great time.

16 - is a boring straight shot through Almonte.
9 - short fun hilly leg with a nice straight at the end.
511 - road to Calabogie with some twists and straights
508 - boring but somewhat scenic
65 - Great road, twisty with slower bits with higher speed straights
41 - Overall nice driving road
Buckshot Lake Rd - Not a great road, bumpy, surprising amount of cops in the area compared to actual commuters.
905 - twisty, hilly but you carry some good speed. Couple of 50 zones with little towns but that can be said for the entire route.
36 - Pretty crap road to connect to the 12.
12 - Higher speed sweeping corners with lots of newer pavement.
15 - similar to the 12 and then hop on the 7 to get back to Ottawa.

I'll try to make it If I remember. In the process of doing some spring cleaning on the car and getting it ready for summer. Still have to take the winters off.

Yes; unfortunately I cannot do Thursday evening the 8th for a meet and that's not enough time warning anyways. May I suggest Thursday May 15th at 7:00pm. Also note that the Ottawa BMW club will be having a HPDE at Calabogie Monday May 19th-Victoria Day. I hope to be there but not driving this event.

Bumping this in case people might be interested.

Aside from going to the track, it would be nice to meet up with other 1 series enthusiasts maybe cars/coffee or some type of cruise? been on the hunt for some nice driving roads, maybe something like this would be fun:

Basically looking for an excuse to go for a nice drive and enjoy the 1er with other enthusiasts and try out my new gopro

Hi All,

Just moved to Ottawa. I might be interested in this! On another note however, can anyone recommend a detailer in town? It's getting warm out there!

Sweet, welcome to Ottawa! Trying to think of a good detailer but I don't know any myself. I ended up buying the equipment and doing it on my spare time, its time consuming but rewarding to see the results. What kind of work do you need done, paint correction , spring cleaning ? severe restoration?

Theres many different levels and to get a good job done its not cheap. Or at least not something I would cheap out on myself. http://www.detailersdomain.net/ has a car blog, and some cool step by step instructional videos. I learned from watching youtube vids and sites like that. Of course not everyone has a full spare weekend to do a full detail.

Cheers and good luck,

Ed
