Blackbox installed

This week's project was to install the dashcam blackbox. This is the latest model from Blackvue, DW500GW-HD. I like the ability to do a lot of stuff on the iPhone app with WiFi connection. There are good features including GPS recording. It's also good for track day as well recording the speed, G-force information.

Looks cool.
How have you chosen to run the power to it?

Hi Ian, I connected the cam to an unit called Power Magic Pro which has 3 wires, one connected to a switched voltage and one to constant voltage, the third is grounded. This allows the cam to record all the time (or set time) and stop if battery level drops to a threshold without discharging the battery completely.

More details on their website: http://www.blackvue.com/en/contents/sub1.asp?idx=16

So last weekend I went down to Canberra for a drive to watch my daughter playing in a string ensemble on Stage 88 at the Floriade.

Here are some photos from the Floriade and a couple of snaps of the 1M.

For those who like photography, hope you like them.

It was my first longish highway trip and I was absolutely impressed with the 1M. There is plenty of torque in this little car, over-taking was such a joy!

Very nice photos...

I like photography as well but I mostly do portraits.

Any cops on the way to Canberra?

Mate, only saw one highway patrol outside Campbelltown. They have the average speed camera on the Federal Hwy heading into Canberra now, not a single cop car sighted.

Those average speed cameras only catch heavy vehicles. Small passenger vehicles can speed in those zones without being caught by the cameras. In saying that though, there are still usually lots of cops within those zones surprisingly.

Thanks for the info on the average speed cameras Alex. It's good to know it's only targeting heavy vehicles. There are quite a few of these on the freeway into Melbourne too on my last trip.

No problems Quang! I can't be 100% sure with Victorian point to point cameras but definitely in NSW they're only targeting heavy vehicles. I've driven through the ones heading towards the snowy mountains many times and have never been pinged by them doing maybe ~10 over late at night.

Little M and the Big starry skies.

Stopped by the side of the Hume highway at 3am to capture this photo. Enjoy.

Very nice as usual Quang What exhaust and diffuser you go on there now?

How was the track?
One way to stretch the legs on a long drive.

Sandown track was a washout with non-stop rain but that didn't stop me going out there and had a blast. No bravery to try fast time. Tyres and brakes held up well after many sessions. And the HMS exhaust sounded great on the straight.

Yes, wouldn't have done it without the valve.

Love the photo Quang. Was great meeting you and the guys at Sandown.
Not sure about you, but I spend most of the time driving the car with the valve open, i.e. in the loud state!
